**Chapter 368: Walking Blood Bag**
In a heartbeat, Tyler surged forward, his instincts kicking in as he caught Caroline just before she tumbled to the ground.

Caroline halted abruptly, her body stiffening in surprise. She was fatigued, no doubt about it, but she was far from weak enough to faint. The speed with which Tyler had reacted took her completely off guard.
“Thanks,” she managed to say, her voice a mix of gratitude and disbelief. “I’m fine.”
Tyler nodded, his grip loosening as he stepped back, but the warmth from where his arm had encircled her waist lingered, sending an unexpected flutter through her.
Yet beneath his calm exterior, Tyler was battling his own demons. The brutal confrontation with Lisa had depleted him, leaving him on the brink of collapse. His chest felt like it was on fire, his organs throbbed in protest, and even the simple act of inhaling was a painful reminder of his current state.
But he steeled himself, refusing to show any weakness in front of Caroline.
Meanwhile, downstairs, Francis lay sprawled on the floor, snoring loudly and oblivious to his disheveled appearance. A few soldiers around him had succumbed to exhaustion, their bodies slumped where they stood, lost to the world.
The users of healing abilities moved through the chaos, diligently restoring energy and mending wounds with a practiced ease.
Caroline and the others, however, resolved to hold on just a bit longer before seeking rest. Their priority was to head upstairs first and have Nelson assess their condition.
With heavy limbs, the three of them dragged themselves into the elevator, which had been repaired, but the journey felt like an uphill battle. Each floor they ascended was a test of sheer willpower.
By the time they reached the 65th floor, every step felt like it was carved from stone. Denton, ever the chatterbox, was already rambling incoherently.
“Tyler,” he mumbled, his voice slurred, “I think my legs have officially transformed into noodles. And hey, do I still smell bad? Sniff, sniff. Honestly, I think I smell kinda good now. Is that okay? Something’s definitely off with me, right?”
Tyler, trying to stifle a laugh, pressed a hand over his mouth. “Zip it. Save your strength for something useful.”
Finally, they stumbled into the lab, and Caroline opened her mouth to call for Nelson, but her words caught in her throat. Out of nowhere, a shirtless man came barreling toward them, clad only in a makeshift tablecloth wrapped around his waist. His skin was smooth, devoid of hair, and his face radiated an infectious excitement.
“Did you see it? My serum worked!” he exclaimed, his voice filled with exhilaration. “Those bugs are gone! Caroline, come on, tell me I’m awesome!”
For what felt like an eternity, silence enveloped them. Perhaps they were too stunned, or maybe they were just too exhausted to respond.
Nelson, ever observant, quickly assessed their condition. One glance was enough; he could see they were utterly spent.
Without wasting a moment, he grabbed a scalpel and sliced open a vein on his wrist. “Come on, don’t be shy!” he said with an upbeat cheerfulness. “Drink a little! My blood works just like my serum. I promise it’ll fix you right up!”

As Nelson extended his arm, bright red blood flowed down, and Caroline’s heart ached for him. He hadn’t even hesitated to inflict pain upon himself.
Once they had regained their strength, the group decided it was time to eat. The day had been long and grueling, and their stomachs were practically pleading for sustenance.
Caroline and Tyler rummaged through their storage space, pulling out food items that would replenish energy and blood. Nelson, on the other hand, was indifferent to what he consumed. He devoured whatever was placed in front of him, his hunger driving him to eat voraciously.

As they watched him shovel food into his mouth, Tyler and Caroline exchanged a knowing glance. Despite his older appearance, Nelson had a simplicity about him that reminded them of Denton—focused, pure, and utterly dedicated to his craft.
His entire existence revolved around science, with everything else fading into the background.
By the end of the meal, Denton and Nelson had struck up a lively conversation, their camaraderie blossoming like a flower in spring.
Denton eagerly began explaining the intricacies of his ability, detailing how he could emit foul odors.
