**Doomsday Rebirth 379: Picking the Boss**
As Caroline stepped into the room, Raven’s ears perked up, twitching twice in quick succession. A sharp, predatory glint flickered in his eyes, transforming his demeanor. In a heartbeat, he expanded in size, effectively pinning Snow to the floor beneath him. His teeth were bared, a clear warning to anyone who dared to challenge his authority.
But then, in a sudden shift, Raven turned his attention to Caroline, wagging his tail with a sense of triumph, as if to declare, “Human, now that you’re present, I’m ready to unleash my full power!”
Snow, feeling the weight of Raven’s dominance, erupted into a fury.
Caroline blinked, her mind racing with confusion. What in the world is happening here? What mischief are these little troublemakers up to now?
Her gaze wandered, and she noticed Silver, who had swooped in from who-knows-where, now perched elegantly on the cabinet, observing the unfolding drama with the keen interest of an audience member at a theatrical performance.
It was as if these small creatures shared a secret language, an unspoken understanding that Caroline simply couldn’t decipher.
Just as she opened her mouth to inquire about the bizarre scene, Snow, trapped under Raven’s weight, suddenly burst forth with a surge of rage!
Fed up with being dominated, Snow lashed out, her paw swiping fiercely at Raven’s front leg.
Raven, unfazed, didn’t flinch or attempt to dodge the attack. He absorbed the blow with an almost dismissive air.
Meanwhile, Jet continued to circle above, his eyes wide with excitement. “Fight! Fight!” he shouted, his voice ringing with glee.
Even after being scratched, Raven remained undeterred. He lifted his paw and retaliated with a swift swipe aimed at Snow’s front leg.
“Jet, what exactly is going on here?” Caroline finally managed to ask, unable to contain her curiosity any longer.
“Picking the Boss! Picking the Boss! Snow wants to be the Boss, but Raven says no!” Jet zipped down to Caroline, circling her twice as he shouted the explanation with unabashed enthusiasm.
Caroline froze for a brief moment, processing the revelation. Wait—this is an actual thing?
Watching Raven’s fierce display of teeth aimed at Snow, she couldn’t help but find the situation amusing.
A smile crept onto her face as she thought, I hope Raven stays just like this—happy, competitive, and blissfully single.
The last thing she wanted was for him to start thinking about finding a girlfriend.
If that happened, he might regret all the antics he was pulling today.
Yet, she had no intention of playing matchmaker for either of them.
The whole spectacle was just too entertaining.
As the tussle between Snow and Raven escalated, it became clear that the warm-up phase was long gone. They were now fully engaged in a serious battle.
Raven clamped down hard on Snow’s front leg, and the instant blood appeared, it was evident he was giving it his all.
Snow, clearly at a disadvantage, attempted to bite Raven’s neck but only managed to snag his back instead. Raven’s mutation had granted him tougher skin, rendering Snow’s bite ineffective.
Caroline knew Snow was about five months old now, right in the throes of her rebellious phase, where she began to challenge Raven’s authority.
From above, Jet, ever the instigator, shouted, “Why fight for Boss? The human is the real Boss!”
Snow howled in protest, turning her attention to Jet, her teeth bared in a playful snarl.
Realizing he had crossed the line, Jet began to scold Snow midair, but his words were drowned out by her growls.
Caroline, exasperated, gave Snow a light smack on the head. “Out! Get out!” she ordered.
Then, pointing at Jet, she added, “You too!”
After shoving them both out the door, the two dogs raced eagerly toward the rooftop, with Jet and Silver trailing behind, ready to witness the chaos unfold.
Caroline surveyed her wrecked living room, rubbing her chin thoughtfully. “Snow… she belongs to Tyler, right?”
She recalled the last incident—Tyler had turned her bedroom upside down, but she hadn’t been overly concerned at the time.
After all, she had plenty of beds stashed away, and she had already decided she wouldn’t be staying in this shelter for long.
But now? Caroline concluded that even if Snow needed to learn a lesson about respecting others’ spaces, Tyler was definitely going to have to face the consequences for the damage done.
