**TITLE: Doomsday Rebirth 467**
**Chapter 467 Customized Car**
Nelson offered a slight nod, his mind a whirlwind of conflicting emotions. Deep down, he was reluctant to part with Tartrate, the little cat who had brought them all so much joy. Yet, he kept reminding himself that he was an adult now, a grown-up expected to make sacrifices for the happiness of others. After all, Denton had expressed a heartfelt desire to care for Tartrate for a few days. With that thought in mind, Nelson decided to lend the cat to him, hoping it would bring a smile to Denton’s face.
He repeated that mantra in his head as if it were a spell to ward off his guilt.
The evening had unfolded beautifully, with their Christmas dinner wrapping up on a high note, leaving everyone feeling satisfied and cheerful. The laughter and chatter had filled the air, creating a cozy atmosphere that lingered long after the last bite had been taken.
As the clock ticked towards 1:00 a.m., the lively conversation gradually faded, replaced by the soft sounds of chairs scraping against the floor as they began to clear the table. Caroline, ever the organizer, took charge. “After we wake up, let’s pack and get moving. It’s time to start fresh after Christmas,” she declared, her voice filled with determination.
No one dared to argue with her. The atmosphere was heavy with unspoken concerns; even though Shane had been sent away, there lingered a palpable tension regarding the possibility of his return. The sooner they left, the better their chances of staying safe.
The earlier conflict between Nathaniel and Andrew had finally reached a resolution, at least for the moment. Andrew’s faction, likely licking their wounds, wouldn’t pose a threat for a while. It felt like the perfect opportunity to make their escape.
After a bit more tidying up and some hushed conversations, they all retreated to their rooms, the weight of the day settling heavily on their eyelids.
However, miles away in Luxvale, a starkly different scene was unfolding. A naked man perched precariously atop a massive, black, round-faced mutant cat. He stood on the rooftop of the tallest building in the city, his restlessness growing more acute with each passing second, his mind racing with confusion.
“Where am I? What in the hell is this place?” he shouted into the night, his voice echoing off the concrete walls.
The mutant cat beneath him quivered, its large, round eyes filled with terror as it glanced back at its master, clearly unsure of where to go.
Suddenly, the silence shattered with a bang! A gunshot rang out from a nearby rooftop, sharp and piercing, as if a fight had erupted just beyond the horizon.
“That way!” the naked man barked, thrusting a finger toward the direction of the sound.
Without hesitation, the cat bolted, obeying its master’s command and sprinting away at full speed.
On the rooftop they had just vacated, three men stood frozen in place, their bodies trembling with fear, marked by cuts and bruises that told the story of a recent struggle.
It wasn’t until the naked man and his mutant cat had vanished into the night that any of them dared to speak.
“What the heck was that guy?” one of them finally whispered, his voice trembling.
“No idea! He’s completely unhinged! I thought we were done for,” another replied, his eyes wide with disbelief.
To her astonishment, a huge compartment slid out from the back, rolling smoothly on six small wheels. It was over ten feet long, matching the car’s width and height. All three sides could open up, and though the panels looked deceptively thin, they were clearly built to endure. A massive tarp could even cover the entire apparatus, adding to its versatility.
“Also, the materials block long-range illusion attacks,” the soldier added, his enthusiasm evident.
Caroline’s eyes sparkled with excitement. That was genuinely impressive—she hadn’t anticipated the army delivering something so remarkable so quickly.
Before she could fully appreciate the ingenuity of her new vehicle, the soldier flashed a grin. “The bucket was designed by Commander Zimmer’s team. We worked through the night to attach it to your car.”
“Normally, we don’t get gear this fancy, but now… heh,” he trailed off, a knowing look in his eyes.
She understood without needing further explanation.
It felt like a stroke of luck had come her way.
While everyone else now had mounts, the mutant creatures still required rest and sustenance. Long journeys could be grueling for them. But this car, with its robust design, promised to handle anything thrown its way, from treacherous roads and inclement weather to the unpredictable nature of ability hits.
The day was just beginning, and Caroline felt a surge of hope for what lay ahead.
