Girl's Doomsday Rebirth Revenge & Survive novel Chapter 499

**TITLE: Doomsday Rebirth 499**

**Chapter 499: Raven Was Furious**

Caroline’s brow furrowed deeply, a wave of realization washing over her. The base alarms had remained silent, an ominous indication that perhaps the man hadn’t initially planned to attack them. But as she observed him now, the shift in his demeanor was unmistakable. His moral compass had swung wildly, like a pendulum caught in a storm, and the decision between good and evil had become a mere flicker of thought. The intent to harm them was now glaringly evident.

“You people are colder than I imagined,” the man spat out bitterly, his voice dripping with disdain. “You nearly left me to die out here. Even in this world teetering on the brink of destruction, it’s the people you should fear the most. My patience has worn thin. Don’t say I didn’t warn you about what’s coming next.”

As he spoke, his eyes darted towards Snow, who was still preoccupied with the mutant mantises lurking in the shadows nearby.

Snow was the closest, a mere ten feet away, his canine instincts kicking in as he bared his teeth in a low, menacing snarl.

Caroline felt her stomach plummet. No, this wasn’t happening. She wanted to call out to Snow, to bring him back to safety, but the man’s lips moved with a frantic urgency, silently forming what appeared to be a dark incantation.

Snow, sensing the danger, began to retreat, but then a piercing yelp erupted from him, echoing through the tense air.

Blood began to trickle down his head, a horrifying sight that sent Caroline’s heart racing.

In that moment, she noticed something equally disturbing: the blood and grime that had marred the man’s own head began to fade, as if some sinister exchange was taking place.

Snow, still just a pup, not even a year old by canine standards, had never encountered such brutality. His whimper held a desperate, pleading tone, a sound only a young dog could produce, and it struck Caroline and Tyler like a dagger to the heart.

Without hesitation, Tyler dashed forward, scooping up the large pup and carrying him away to a safer distance, his face a mask of determination and fear.

As they moved, the wound on Snow’s head finally ceased its relentless worsening, but the damage had already been done; the man’s injuries had almost entirely transferred to the innocent young dog.

In his short life, Snow had never experienced pain like this. Despite his size and lineage as a wolf, he had known nothing but a life of comfort under Tyler’s care—a pet far removed from the instincts of a predator. The agony coursed through his body, evident in the way he trembled against Tyler’s chest.

Caroline’s gaze shifted to the lifeless mantises scattered around the man. Their bodies bore strange, almost unnatural wounds, as if they had been savagely attacked by their own kind.

He must have transferred part of his injuries to them earlier, she thought, horror creeping into her mind.

The man had feigned weakness, lying in wait, deliberately holding onto some of his wounds, all to set a trap and ambush them, transferring his remaining injuries onto their group!

“Heh… I didn’t expect you all to take down so many mantises. You’re tougher than I gave you credit for,” he sneered, amusement flickering in his eyes.

Then, without warning, he drew a knife and plunged it into his own arm with brutal force.

Blood sprayed across the dirt, the metallic scent igniting a frenzy in one of the remaining mutant mantises, which lunged forward, its blades snapping hungrily.

To Caroline’s horror, the man didn’t flinch or attempt to evade; instead, he offered his other arm to the mantis, inviting its deadly strike.

But before they could act, Raven surged forward, a black streak of fury.

Caroline watched in awe as the man’s mouth opened, hastily finishing his chant in a desperate rush. Mid-leap, Raven’s front legs snapped with a sickening crunch, but he didn’t falter. He propelled himself forward with a powerful thrust of his hind legs, continuing his relentless charge.

Caroline grasped Tyler’s arm, halting him in his tracks.

Her gaze flickered between the trembling, blood-soaked Snow and Raven, whose entire being radiated a deadly, frozen rage. In that moment, she understood the depth of Raven’s fury.

The man, now gripped by panic, drove his knife into his own thigh in a frantic attempt to shift the damage once more.

Raven’s back leg buckled, but he was already upon the man.

His eyes blazed with a feral light, pure and merciless intent. He regarded the man as a predator would its prey, a chilling gaze that promised no mercy.

“Ahhhh!”

The man’s scream erupted as Raven’s jaws clamped around his throat, a sound that was abruptly silenced.

In that instant, the man never had a chance to utter another word.
