Golden Cage Mommy Mutiny (Elyse) novel Chapter 43

Chapter 10

Selina’s brows knit, suspicion flashing across her face. Don’t try anything. Give me the idol. After

you die, I’ll mournyou. And I, will take your place as the lead designer, and live better than you

ever could.

I met her triumphant gaze, my eyes glinting with amusement. Then I dropped the idol outright and

smashed it into the floor. A horrifying scream tore through the air.

Aaaah!!!Black smoke exploded upward, twisting like something alive, then scattered and

dissolved into nothing.

Selina stared at me, frozen. Then she looked down at the shattered idol and broke. No! No,

don’t

Her eyes turned vicious, like she wanted to claw me apart with her bare hands. Just as she lunged at

me, the stage curtain rose.

The audience saw everything. Phones shot up immediately in reportershands.

Down below, my parents stared at Selina, their eyes wide with disbelief. Only now did they

understand. They’d been wrong from the start.

Selina’s emotions spiraled out of control. Blood started leaking from her eyes, her nose, her ears. Then her skin began to split and rot in patches, the smell turning foul enough to make people gag.

When I turned to leave, reporters swarmed the stage and shoved microphones toward my face.

Did you enter the competition this year?

How did it feel to be framed as a plagiarist?

Questions crashed into me from every direction. In the crowd, my parents pushed forward. Regret

was written all over their faces.

For years, they’d believed I was a bad omen, that my existence would destroy Selina.

Back then, when Selina was born, they’d looked at her with nothing but pity, convinced she was fragile and innocent.

The pastor’s words forced them into a choice. I was four, but Selina was smaller, weaker, more precious.

So they sent me away, and for over twenty years, they never looked back. Only when Selina suggested bringing me home did it occur to them they had another child in the countryside.

Now, they stood before me, their eyes full of guilt. Unfortunately, my heart had long since severed

any expectation or feeling for this family

I ignored their attempts to hold me back. Security quickly moved in to control the chaos. I forced my way out of the crowd and walked away without turning back.

Within minutes, it was everywhere online.

In the end, first place went to a designer from another city.

And I went back to the countryside. What I’d saved was enough for Grandma and me to live quietly for a long time.

Honestly, life here was truly happy.
