Golden Cage Mommy Mutiny (Elyse) novel Chapter 61

The officers didn’t want to scare the other kids at preschool, so they took off Mom and Dad’s

handcuffs.

I saw my best friends Molly and Wendy!

They knew my parents, and the moment they saw them, they bounced over, all excited.

Penny’s mom, Penny’s dad, how come she hasn’t been to preschool for so many days now? The

teacher’s going to take away all her gold star stickers!

We all miss Penny. Why isn’t she coming back?

My nose stung. I was never going to see my friends again.

I wondered what Mom and Dad were going to say about how I died.

I hoped they wouldn’t scare my friends.

But Dad choked up and said, Penny went to live somewhere else. She won’t be coming back to this

preschool.

Mom nodded. That’s right. We’re just here to sign the withdrawal papers for Penny and pick up her

things.

The other kids all let out little cries of disappointment when they heard that.

Soon, a teacher led Mom and Dad over to my little table.

Someone slipped a cute eraser into their hands, and Wendy offered the small cookies she knew I

loved most.

Penny’s mom, Penny’s dad, you have to give these to Penny for me.

When are you going to buy Penny one of those kids smartwatches? Then we can call her all the

time.

I saw Mom turn away to swipe at her tears, then force a smile as she said they’d buy one right away.

I pouted.

Hmph. Mom was lying. The last time I begged her for so long, she said the same thing, but when we went to the mall she bought a baby walker for Jamie instead.

But this time, Mom actually went over to a street stall and bought a little smartwatch just for me.

One of the officers frowned. Are we done now?

Mom pressed her hands together as if praying. I want to go to Penny’s grave one more time.
