Chapter 117

Levi’s POV

“Levi, let go of him,” Forest said in a warning tone, but I ignored him again.

Connor glared at me. “What the fuck is your problem? Let go!”

I closed my eyes and let out a slow, deep breath, forcing myself to keep my temper under control.

“Where’s Hope’s hometown?” I asked calmly, looking straight into his eyes so he knew I was serious.

He stood there for a moment, his brows furrowing. Then, after a second, realization flashed across his face before a smug expression slowly replaced it.

“Did she leave you?”

I narrowed my eyes at him. “I’m asking you a question.”

“And I’m not obligated to answer,” he replied with an infuriating smirk.

“I see now. Hope has finally snapped out of her senses. She realized being with you would only bring her nothing but problems.”

I tightened my grip on his collar, my knuckles turning white, but the bastard’s expression didn’t falter.

“Hope must’ve found being with you exhausting, Levi. Hell, it’s exhausting just being your teammate. Imagine what she feels. You know, she doesn’t like inconvenience at all. She probably hid from you so you wouldn’t find her, but here you are, still chasing after her.”

“Fucking bastard,” I cursed through gritted teeth.

Hope wasn’t like that.

I knew her.

I wasn’t angry because he was calling me exhausting to be around. I was angry because he thought so little of Hope. He spoke as though she’d abandon everything without a reason.

He didn’t know her at all.

We stared at each other without saying another word. Every muscle in my body screamed at me to punch him. Behind the arrogance in his eyes, I caught a sliver of fear carefully hidden beneath his confidence.

Suddenly, we were pulled apart.

The twins, Desmond, and several other teammates grabbed hold of me while I struggled against their grip. Forest quickly stepped between Connor and me, placing a firm hand against Connor’s chest before he could do something stupid.

“Let go,” I told them calmly as I tried to wrench myself free.

“Shit,” Desmond cursed. “How strong are you? There’s five of us, and we’re still struggling.”

“Let go unless you want to get hurt.”

“No can do,” Spencer said in a strained voice. “We don’t want you causing trouble while the season’s ongoing, Levi.”

“That’s right,” Connor chimed in from the side. “If you cause trouble, I might get to play your role. I bet I’d do it even better

Chapter 117

“Replaceable,” I muttered under my breath, the word echoing inside my head.

It felt like someone had driven a knife straight into my chest.

“Yes,” Delaney continued, trying to sound confident. “Margaret personally appointed me, and since I’ve been with the team for years, I know you guys better than anyone.”

Margaret…

I fucking knew it.

“Let’s just get over with it,” Coach Dennis added dismissively. “She wasn’t part of the team for long anyway.”

Every word they spoke made me sicker.

They were trying to erase her.

But I knew better.

I knew Hope.

She would’ve never left without a reason.

“Get over with it?” I repeated, my voice low enough to make everyone stop talking.
