It was only a couple of minutes until noon by the time we arrived at the campus of Oakridge.
I decided to drop Harley off at Oakridge first. He slept the whole way through, snoring lightly. It was actually amazing how he managed to stay in the same position for seven whole hours without moving an inch.
I shook Harley awake, and he jumped up immediately, his head bumping against the car ceiling.
“Woah. We’re here? That went by in a second,” he said with a grin, rubbing the top of his head.
I shook my head in amusement.
“Thanks for the smooth driving, bro.”
I opened the trunk so he could get his things. However, just as he was about to leave, it seemed he got a text that made him stop in his tracks.
“Who is it?” I asked, just in case it was Hope.
He clicked his tongue.
“My partner for this one subject. She sent a very long email saying how unprofessional it is to leave school while a project is pending.”
He glanced down at his phone before snorting.
“She even used bullet points.”
I huffed a laugh while he shrugged.
“What a pain. There’s still a good two weeks before the deadline anyway.”
I pursed my lips because I already knew who his partner was.
Should I tell him that she’s my sister?
The thought crossed my mind for a brief second. Then, I shook my head.
It was probably for the best if I didn’t. Zayla was keeping a subdued identity despite taking my last name.
“Well, I better go before her head explodes.”
I nodded silently.
“Good luck.”
“I’m going to need it.”

After gathering his things, Harley shut the trunk and headed toward the campus. I watched him disappear into the crowd of students before pulling away.
After that, I drove straight to the rink.
It was already a couple of minutes until noon, so I was already late to the meeting. Still, I decided to push Margaret’s buttons further.
Let her wait.
After everything she had done, a few extra minutes felt generous.
I took the back entrance, as instructed by Beth, because I saw some media gathered at the front. Cameras flashed every few seconds, reporters lingering around the entrance like vultures waiting for fresh meat.
The second I stepped inside, I could already feel the atmosphere change.
I walked toward the locker room, not missing the whispers that followed after me. Some threw hesitant smiles my way, as though they weren’t sure whether I was welcome here or not.
The moment I arrived at the locker room, Forest stopped talking.
A small smile appeared on his lips, and that immediately captured everyone else’s attention.
“Levi!” Spencer exclaimed.
Several heads snapped toward me.
Delaney, who had been sitting off to the side, suddenly jumped to her feet and ran over. Before I could react, she wrapped her arms around my waist.
“Levi, where have you been? Why didn’t you tell me anything?” she cried.
I quickly pried her arms away from me and ignored the question, walking toward Desmond, who was already waiting with a half-hug and a grin.
My other teammates greeted me immediately, patting my back and shoulders.
“We missed you, bastard! The locker room isn’t the same without you,” Scott said.
“I won’t admit it at any other time, but I agree,” Spencer added. “You gained good weight, bastard. You must be eating well.”
“You look healthier.”
“Less dead inside.”
The familiar banter made me smirk.
Honestly, my teammates were important people in my life. Maybe I hadn’t realized just how important until recently. Being with Hope had a way of making me see things more clearly.

However, the moment was suddenly broken when Coach Dennis spoke.
“Why did you come back?”
The warmth disappeared instantly.
I turned toward the old man.
He stood near the lockers with his arms crossed, his expression hard.
I pursed my lips.
“I’m still part of the team.”
A humorless smirk appeared on his lips.
“As far as I know, someone who abandons a team for a woman isn’t part of the Glaciers.”
The room immediately grew tense again.
Forest sighed.
“Coach…”
“Hush,” Dennis snapped.
Forest’s jaw tightened.

“Even if I give you authority to lead your teammates, that does not mean you’re the one in charge here.”
His gaze sharpened.
“Maybe this is also your fault. You cannot lead your teammates properly, and that is why your plays are crumbling.”
Several players frowned while others looked away.
I frowned.
What was with this man?
I had always been neutral toward him.
He wasn’t the greatest coach.
Honestly, if he were coaching another team, it would be difficult for that team to win consistently. However, since our roster was good, he managed to take home four championships.
Not to brag or anything, but he wouldn’t have gotten near a championship cup without us.
I always thought he was emotional and far too doting on his daughter. Now I could clearly see where that

came from.
Coach Dennis started walking toward me.

“I don’t know why Margaret gave you a second chance, but in my books, there isn’t a second chance, Levi.”
The room went quiet.
I glanced at the rest of the team.
They looked like they were holding themselves back. That told me everything I needed to know.
I turned back to Dennis with a smirk.
“Are you a god?”
His brows furrowed deeply.
“I don’t care about your philosophy.”
The disbelief in his eyes was obvious.
“Levi Reeve,” he said slowly. “You have changed.”
I shrugged.
“I just couldn’t be bothered to talk before.”
I held his gaze.
“I’ve always been like this.”
His jaw tightened. For a moment, neither of us looked away. The tension stretched tighter and tighter.
