Chapter 56
Hope’s POV

It hadn’t even been a full twenty-four hours since Lee had moved into my apartment, and he was already proving to be a mess. He would come into my room at the most random times and start shadow-boxing, and he would also blast rap music in the middle of the night without warning.
It was the kind of thing people would only understand if they had a brother.
Now, we were on our way to the rink to watch the Glaciers’ practice game with the Bears.
“Wait, Levi’s not playing?” he asked loudly, and I quickly slapped my hand over his mouth while looking around the tram.
Fortunately, nobody seemed to be paying attention.
“It’s not public yet.”
“Why not?” he whispered after pulling my hand away. “Do you know how many people come to these practice games just for Levi? I even moved here early to watch him.”
“I wanted to see some of his plays in real life before our season starts.”
I sighed. “The star player needs all the rest he can get before the main season actually starts.”
“That’s bullcrap,” Harley whispered. “He has an injury like the rumors say, right? He’s not going to play in the main league, is
he?”
“Oh, damn,” he continued before I could even answer. “The fans are going to be deeply disappointed.”
“He is going to be playing,” I muttered. “Don’t worry about that.”
The management wouldn’t let him not play.
“He’s just taking a rest.”
“Levi Reeve and rest do not sound right together,” he muttered. “He’s been playing center nonstop for the past few years.”
“Anyway, even if he is going to play in the main league, the real question is this-will he still be able to perform the way he always has?”
He leaned closer. “After they lost to the Pucks during the practice game, there have already been a lot of guesses that the Glaciers are falling from their glory.”
I let out a deep breath.
“You and your honest mouth, huh? You can’t even hold back with your questions?”
That was honestly one of my worries, too. Which was exactly why I needed to snap out of whatever weird mood I had been in and focus on Levi’s recovery for the next week.
“Anyway,” Harley continued, unaware of my spiraling thoughts, “don’t forget Desmond’s autograph, alright? Get one from the twins, too. Oh-and Forest Deandre.”
I pursed my lips.
“And if I don’t?”

“I’ll tell Mom,” he said with a bright smile.
I sighed, massaging the bridge of my nose.
“Don’t you want Levi’s autograph?” I asked because I knew he was one of the players Harley admired most.
“No need.”
He shrugged. “I fear for your pride, honestly. He probably wouldn’t give it to you.”
I couldn’t help but frown. “What do you mean?”
“No offense,” he said, raising both hands in surrender, “but you’re not exactly the type to befriend Levi Reeve.”
My mouth hung slightly open at his audacity.
“We are… acquaintances,” I quickly defended myself. For some reason, I felt offended by his insinuation.
“Sure, sure.”
He waved me off, clearly not believing a word I said.
“We’re actually pretty close.”
The words came out faster than I intended.
He raised both brows and nodded slowly. That somehow made me feel even more frustrated.
Gosh.
How would he even react if he knew I had already made out with his idol?
“I’ll see you after the game,” I said.
“No need,” he responded with a wide smile. “Some of my teammates are here. We’ll probably eat right after.”
“Alright, I’ll see you back at the apartment.”
When he still didn’t leave and instead gave me those eyes, I already knew exactly what he wanted.
I fished my wallet out of my pocket and handed him some money.
His smile instantly widened.
“Sweet. Thanks, sis!”
With that, he disappeared toward the entrance of the rink, leaving me standing there shaking my head.
I then went inside the facility, preparing to head toward the locker room, when I ran into Beth in the hallway.
“Are you heading to the locker room?” she asked.
“Yeah,” I answered. “Let’s go together.”
She shook her head. “You don’t have to go there for now.”
I frowned.

Chapter 56
“Then where?”
“Head to Levi’s room instead.”
I tilted my head. “Don’t I need to check on the other players?”
“They’re fine, according to Aiden.”
She crossed her arms.
