Chapter 74 — Solaris
Everything calmed down.
Noah finally had the time to look at the corpse of the Wyvern.
It was...
Unsightly.
"Do you really expect me to hand in this corpse as proof of completing the mission?" Noah asked calmly.
Eric, Yuki, and Elizabeth coughed awkwardly.
They clearly hadn’t prioritized preserving the body—being under literal death threats kind of ruined those plans.
Noah understood, of course. He didn’t really blame them. They had done their best.
’Shadeva, are there any other dragonkin beasts around?’ he asked mentally.
’Yes. There’s an S-rank one,’ Shadeva responded.
Noah nodded calmly.
His gaze drifted to Eric, who seemed stronger now.
Even Yuki had grown.
’Did she manage to create her own version of illusion swords?’
He smiled softly.
He patted Yuki’s head and said gently, "Good job, Yuki. I knew you’d succeed."
Yuki’s brain short-circuited.
The sudden praise caught her off guard, but soon her face lit up with a beautiful, innocent smile.
"Yes! Thank you!" she chirped, nodding her head cutely before snuggling closer to Noah.
He let her be.
Then his eyes shifted to Eric.
"Eric, you said you wanted to become a being of shadow," Noah said.
"Are you ready?"
Eric’s face lit up with excitement.
Ever since they’d entered this forest and he’d discovered the existence of the shadow race, he had been dreaming of becoming one.
If this worked, he wouldn’t just have an affinity for shadows.
He would become one.
"Yes! I’m ready! Born ready, in fact!" he exclaimed, barely containing his excitement.
Noah smiled slightly.
’Shadeva, I know it’s a bit presumptuous to ask for your blood the first day we met... but could I have a drop? I want to transform him into a shadow being.’
Shadeva replied without hesitation, ’I don’t mind. But are you sure? You know my ability—
I could kill him and remake him into shadow. He’d retain his memories and personality... but he would be absolutely loyal to you.’
’It’s safer, considering you never know what the future holds.’
Noah paused.
That was true.
But then he smiled faintly.
’I don’t want to build a kingdom of shackled people. I want them to choose to follow me.’
’I may blackmail them at first,’ he admitted, amused, ’but once they understand, they stay willingly. That’s better than forced loyalty. Even if there’s a risk of betrayal... it’s fine.’
’Isn’t that what makes us human? Even when we know something might hurt us, we still choose it.’
’So just give me your blood.’
He smirked darkly.
’If he ever betrays me... I’ll show him how evil I can really be.’
Shadeva was silent for a moment—then smiled unseen in the shadows.
She liked his thinking.
No doubt anymore: she had made the right choice binding herself to him.
A drop of black blood appeared in Noah’s hand, thick and heavy.
The surrounding shadows seemed to deepen at its presence.
"Come, Eric. Yuki, Elizabeth—take some distance," Noah ordered.
They obeyed instantly.
Noah had decided to use his fusion talent to make the transformation even more profound, while his Creator title would also activate.
"Brace yourself," he warned Eric.
"It won’t be painless."
Eric nodded firmly, determination burning in his eyes.
Then—
"Fuse."
The black drop sank into Eric’s body.
Instantly, a white dome enveloped him.
Shadows moved and rushed toward him to transform him. The space around him became devoid of light.
Screams tore out of Eric’s throat, guttural and raw.
And she had to act before they returned to the Academy. ƒгeewebnovёl.com

Meanwhile—
Elijah was chilling with Leona.
He had just finished battling an A-rank wolf.
"Tsk, how is this possible?" Elijah clicked his tongue, frustration clear on his face.
He couldn’t believe it—he hadn’t managed to kill the beast.
Leona shook her head beside him.
"That beast’s wind skills were too much," she said.
Leona hadn’t even fought seriously. She had used just one beast, explaining that her others were still recovering from their training.
Still, Elijah should’ve been able to finish it.
But this beast had fought differently.
Its skills were exceptional.
Its intelligence was unsettling.
"Fuck," Elijah cursed again.
Just as he was about to vent by burning the forest to ashes, a sound reached his ears.
A cry.
Elijah snapped his head toward the noise—and found a small, bloodied white fox lying in the grass.
Without thinking, Elijah rushed over.
He helped her drink a health potion, and a few seconds later, the fox opened her eyes—beautiful golden orbs that locked onto Elijah’s golden gaze.
The fox stumbled toward him, snuggling against him affectionately.
At that moment, Elijah’s mind was made.
He remembered Noah’s cat-like beast companion—and suddenly, he wanted one too.
He smiled gently at the fox.
"Would you like to follow me?
Become my contracted beast?"
The fox tilted her head—then nodded, as if understanding him perfectly.
Elijah’s grin widened.
"Perfect. From now on, your name shall be Kitsune."
"My contracted beast."
