"I have something to say to you," he said, his voice terribly hoarse.
Lucas remained silent but stepped forward, his tall frame effortlessly shielding Sienna as he blocked Grant's predatory gaze.
The air in the parking lot seemed to freeze.
Sienna stood by the car door and looked up at him, her expression completely indifferent.
"Is there something else, Mr. Gauthier?"
Grant felt a sharp sting in his chest at the formal address.
He opened his mouth, but the words he had prepared suddenly caught in his throat.
"Mr. Gauthier," Lucas said, his tone perfectly even. "There's no point in dragging this out."
Grant's gaze swept over Lucas before landing back on Sienna's face.
"I want to speak with you alone," he demanded, staring her down.
Sienna didn't move. She just stared coldly at the man standing before her.
Once, driven by The System Protocol's directives, she had loved him for eight long years. She had reduced herself to the weak, pathetic Mrs. Gauthier that everyone mocked and trampled on.
Every injury she endured, every humiliation she suffered, he had never truly cared about.
Yet now he stood here, demanding to speak to her alone.
It was too late.
"It's unnecessary," she said. "Everything we had to say to each other is clearly written in the divorce agreement, Mr. Gauthier."
Seeing that he was about to be rejected again, Grant's temper flared. "Sienna!"
A second later, realizing he had overreacted, he forced himself to calm down and spoke in a low, dangerous tone.
"Come back to the Gauthier estate with me."
The words were ground out through his teeth, carrying an undeniable tone of command.
Sienna laughed.
It wasn't a sneer, nor was it mocking. It was just pure absurdity that made her chuckle uncontrollably.
Back to the Gauthier estate?
Which home? The one where she had lived for eight years, only for even the maids to walk all over her?
"Mr. Gauthier," Sienna dropped her smile, her eyes as calm and dead as stagnant water. "Did you forget? We already signed the divorce papers."
He squeezed so hard it felt like he was trying to crush her bones.
The very next second, a stronger, leaner hand clamped down on Grant's wrist.
"Let go," Lucas warned, his voice dangerously low.
Dead silence fell over the parking lot.
The standoff between the three of them stretched the tension to its absolute breaking point.
Grant glared at Sienna, whatever rational thought he had left completely incinerated by jealousy and an uncontrollable rage.
He suddenly laughed, but the amusement never reached his eyes. Instead, it was laced with a sinister, unhinged edge.
"Fine, you want to leave? Sure."
He released her wrist and took a step back, looking her up and down as if inspecting a cheap commodity.
"As long as you look me in the eye and admit the child you're carrying isn't mine. That it's a bastard."
His voice wasn't loud, but every word drove into Sienna's ears like poisoned nails.
"Say it, and I'll let you go."
