Lucas's eyes churned with a dark violence Sienna had never seen before. Clenching his fists like a madman, he leaned over and aimed another brutal swing at Grant's face.
Sienna stood frozen in shock.
She had never imagined that this man, usually so gentle and composed, could snap so fiercely.
"Lucas," Sienna called out, catching his arm.
Her grip was weak; having been sick for so long, even holding onto him felt exhausting.
But Lucas stopped instantly.
"Don't dirty your hands on him," she said quietly. "He's not worth it."
Lucas looked down at her for a few seconds, his rapidly heaving chest slowly settling. He didn't throw another punch, opting instead to guide Sienna safely into the car.
On the ground, Grant wiped the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand. A bright streak of crimson smeared across his pale skin, glaringly obvious.
The rising star of the business world, the untouchable CEO of The Gauthier Group, was currently sprawled on the concrete like a discarded stray dog, forced to watch his wife slide into another man's car.
The Maybach's engine roared to life, its taillights flashing as it slowly glided out of the parking lot.
Grant sat paralyzed, watching the vehicle drive further and further away until it rounded a corner and disappeared completely from sight.
A frigid gust of wind swept through the empty driveway, making him shudder. His split lip continued to bleed, the metallic taste of rust blooming on his tongue.
She was gone.
She had walked away so cleanly, so ruthlessly, as if he were nothing more than an annoying pebble kicked to the curb.
Grant slowly curled his hands into fists.
The bitter taste of being discarded like trash felt like a ringing slap to the face, shattering every ounce of his pride.
Sienna used to love him so fiercely, willing to sacrifice everything she had for him.
So how could she throw him away so easily now?
He refused to accept it. He couldn't stomach the sheer humiliation of being erased from her life.
That suffocating sense of rejection boiled over, and staring obsessively in the direction they had left, he growled through clenched teeth.
"Sienna! As long as you were mine for a day, you're mine forever!"
