The entire banquet hall went dead silent.

The people who had just been mocking Lyla completely forgot what they were saying. Like magnets, every eye in the room was instantly drawn to Sienna and Lucas.

"Is that... Lucas Lowery?"

"Who is that woman with him? She's a bit thin, but her presence is absolutely breathtaking."

"Wait, isn't that Sienna Sawyer? The one who won the gold medal at the art exhibition?"

"Yes! That's her! I knew she looked familiar!"

The murmurs swelled like a rising tide, but the tone was entirely different.

Lyla had been showered with mockery and contempt, but the whispers surrounding Sienna were filled entirely with awe and intense curiosity.

Lyla's grip on Grant's arm tightened incrementally.

Staring at the woman who was supposed to be squashed beneath her shoe—now being worshipped like a goddess by the entire room—the toxic hatred in Lyla's heart threatened to burst from her chest.

Grant locked his eyes onto Sienna. Or, more accurately, he glared viciously at the hand Lucas had resting on the small of her back.

"Sienna." He walked over, unable to control himself.

Sienna looked as though she had only just noticed him.

"Mr. Gauthier," she said smoothly. "What a coincidence."

In that short, simple greeting, there was no anger, no resentment, not even the slightest ripple of emotion.

But it was precisely that dead calm that plunged Grant into an icy abyss.

The old Sienna used to look at him with so much emotion. Grievance, longing, and suppressed love.

Even if it was hatred, it would still mean she cared.

But right now, the way she looked at him was no different from how she'd look at a total stranger.

Spotless, detached, and utterly devoid of warmth.

Grant's temper flared, and he launched right into an aggressive interrogation. "I called you the other day, why didn't you come back? Do you have any idea how badly Eleanor was hurt?!"

Sienna scoffed inwardly. She couldn't believe that even now, he was still trying to lie to her.
