Sienna looked up at the sudden crash.

Seeing it was him, she didn't even twitch an eyebrow. She simply lowered her head and resumed her drawing.

Her blatant, dismissive attitude caused the anger in Grant's chest to instantly flare into an inferno.

"Sienna, do you really think I won't lay a hand on you?" Grant closed the distance in three long strides, snatched the pencil right out of her hand, snapped it in half, and hurled it to the floor.

"Bullying Lyla, plotting against my child—who the hell gave you the audacity?!"

Sienna glanced at the broken pieces on the floor and let out a self-deprecating laugh. "Mr. Gauthier, I'm just 'diligently' taking care of her. Believe what you want."

"Taking care of her? Then explain what you forced down her throat!" he demanded bluntly, his tone frigid.

Sienna paused.

"A prenatal tonic," she answered simply.

"A prenatal tonic?" Grant sneered. "Who gave you the authority to force medication on her? If something happens, can you bear the consequences?"

"Dr. Bennett prescribed it." Sienna looked up, meeting his gaze evenly. "If you don't believe me, Mr. Gauthier, you can call him and ask."

Dr. Bennett had been the Gauthier family's private physician for years. He was highly respected, and Grant naturally trusted him completely.

Caught off guard by her logic, Grant's expression grew even more hostile.

"Then what about her claims that you intentionally burned her, starved her, and locked her inside the house?"

Sienna stood up and stepped closer to him.

The top of her head only reached his chin, but she wasn't the least bit intimidated by his oppressive aura.

"Are you interrogating me, Mr. Gauthier?"

"I am."

"Where's your proof?" Sienna countered. "Are you basing this solely on Lyla's one-sided claims, or did you see it with your own eyes?"

"I..." Grant found himself speechless once again.

He hadn't actually witnessed any of it.

"Lyla doesn't lie," he stated forcefully.

"Is that right?" Sienna laughed, a sound dripping with pure mockery. "A woman who pretends to be terrified of a bug and screams her head off in a movie theater—you're telling me she doesn't lie?"
