Sienna didn't stop.
Her heels clicked rhythmically against the stone tiles as she sidestepped Susan and headed straight for the front door.
Susan's smug expression vanished in an instant, and she aggressively stepped in front of Sienna to block her.
"Ms. Sawyer! I am speaking to you! Ms. Lennox explicitly said..."
"Get out of my way."
Sienna's voice was soft, and she didn't even bother to look at her.
Susan was completely taken aback by the attitude. In the six years she had worked at the estate, Sienna had never spoken to her like that.
The old Sienna always had a smile on her face, doing whatever chores were asked of her and swallowing every insult. Even when the staff actively walked all over her, the most she would do was purse her lips in silence.
What had gotten into her today?
Snapping out of her shock, Susan scurried ahead of Sienna and physically barred the front door, putting her hands on her hips.
"Ms. Sawyer, I'm not trying to make things difficult for you, but these are Ms. Lennox's orders. If you just take the side door, we can all save face."
"Save face?" Sienna stopped and tilted her head to look at the maid. "Susan, you work for the Gauthier family, not the Lennox family."
"As long as Grant and I haven't finalized our divorce, she is nothing more than the other woman. Running errands for a homewrecker—aren't you worried people will talk behind your back?"
The fat on Susan's face practically vibrated with indignation.
Sienna didn't waste another breath on her and tried to squeeze past her into the house.
Panicking, Susan reached out and violently yanked her sleeve backward. Sienna's body was already incredibly weak, and the sudden pull sent her stumbling, her shoulder slamming hard into the doorframe.
The sudden commotion startled the poodle by their feet.
The dog instantly lunged, sinking its teeth right into Sienna's ankle.
The sharp teeth pierced through the thin fabric of her pants and tore straight into her flesh.
Pain flared instantly.
The sharp, entirely unprovoked agony caused Sienna to instinctively kick her leg out. The poodle was sent flying backward, tumbling a few feet before sprawling on the ground and letting out a pathetic whimper.
Susan let out a dramatic shriek. "Oh my god! Are you crazy?! That is Ms. Lennox's dog!"
Sienna looked down at her ankle. The fabric was torn, revealing two distinct rows of teeth marks, bright beads of blood slowly welling up to the surface.
He was dressed in a dark casual button-down, the sleeves rolled up to his forearms, a phone gripped in his hand. He looked incredibly annoyed, clearly interrupted from his work by the noise outside.
His brows were locked in a deep scowl.
"What is all this screaming about?"
Lyla hugged the dog even tighter, resting her chin on its head as she stared at Sienna through a thick haze of tears.
"Are you taking your anger out on Coco just because you're upset that I moved in?"
The sheer audacity of the logical leap was so staggering that Sienna almost laughed.
"Grant, Sienna kicked Coco. If I hadn't gotten here in time, Coco could have been killed."
Grant looked down at the dog and reached out to give it a pat. The poodle let out a soft whine.
His scowl softened slightly, relieved that the animal was fine.
Only then did he look up, his gaze finally shifting over to Sienna.
"Explain." It wasn't a question; it was an interrogation.
