Sienna lay completely motionless on the freezing, waterlogged ground. Her skin was as pale as a sheet of paper, and pooling beneath her was a horrifying, rapidly expanding puddle of dark crimson.

Helen had never witnessed anything so terrifying in her entire life. Her legs gave out, and she nearly collapsed.

Scrambling frantically back into the house, she screamed at the top of her lungs.

"Mr. Gauthier! Something terrible has happened!"

Helen barged wildly into the living room, her entire body shaking uncontrollably.

"Mr. Gauthier! Ms. Sawyer is bleeding! There's blood everywhere!"

Grant strode out of the bedroom in his robe, an irritated scowl of someone violently woken up plastered across his face.

Lyla followed closely behind him, one hand cradling her stomach while the other gripped his sleeve.

"What are you panicking about?" Grant snapped. "It's just a little rain."

"It's not the rain!" Helen stomped her feet in sheer panic. "It's blood! Ms. Sawyer is lying out there completely unresponsive, completely covered in blood! She's barely breathing!"

Lyla's heart plummeted violently.

She never actually expected Sienna to be in mortal danger.

Her only goal had been to make the woman suffer enough to finally pack her bags and leave. But if she actually died on their doorstep...

Still, to Lyla, even a dead body was less important than securing the title of Mrs. Gauthier.

She had to extinguish Grant's sympathy before it could even ignite.

Lyla pressed herself against Grant's arm. Forcing tears into her eyes, she spoke in a soft, devastatingly pitiful voice.

"Grant, don't fall for it."

Grant turned his head to look at her.

"She's carrying another man's child, and her health is already terrible. It's perfectly normal for her to bleed a little after standing in the rain."

"Since the minute she stepped back into this house, everything she's done has been a calculated performance to manipulate you. Tonight is just another act in her play."

Grant's eyes narrowed slightly.

Seeing his hesitation, Lyla struck while the iron was hot.

"Grant, if you run out there to save her right now, you'll be playing right into her hands."

"Once she survives, she'll parade your affection around to the media and use it to slowly drain your assets!"

The light in Grant's eyes froze over completely.

He knew Sienna could be vicious, but he had never imagined she could be this utterly psychotic.
