Lyla violently shuddered, an icy chill seeping into her very bones.
Before she even had a second to process the hidden threat in his words, Grant coldly barked an order to the security guards behind him.
"Take her away. Lock her in the basement."
"Right away, Boss."
The guards stepped forward, hoisting a wildly thrashing, screaming Lyla up by her arms like she was nothing but a ragdoll.
She fought like a cornered animal, her hysterical shrieks echoing sharply down the sterile hospital corridor.
Grant didn't hand Lyla over to the authorities. Instead, he had her dragged like a dead dog back to Gauthier Manor, straight into the very same basement where Sienna had once been imprisoned.
Bang!
The heavy steel door slammed shut behind Lyla with a deafening crash, instantly cutting off all light and sound from the outside world.
The basement reeked of damp mold and decay, the air bone-chillingly cold.
Lyla collapsed onto the hard floor, feeling as if every bone in her body had just been shattered.
She frantically scanned the pitch-black room, her entire body trembling in raw terror.
Grant stood on the other side of the door, his voice cutting through the metal with lethal finality.
"From this day forward, this is where you live."
His voice echoed through the empty darkness, dripping with an absolute, merciless cruelty.
"Every single ounce of pain Sienna endured, I am going to make you taste it, piece by piece!"
With that, he turned and walked away.
The heavy deadbolt clicked into place. This time, even the faintest sliver of light beneath the door vanished.
The world plunged into total darkness.
Lyla curled into a tight ball on the freezing concrete. At first, she screamed and cursed like a lunatic, throwing her entire body weight against the unyielding steel door.
But her energy quickly drained away.
The only response she got was the hoarse echo of her own voice, followed by an endless, suffocating silence designed to drive a person completely insane.
