Grant slammed his phone onto the desk, his voice terrifyingly cold.
"She dared to block me?"
Leo didn't dare respond.
It sounded like a question, but it was actually a death sentence.
Grant yanked at his tie, a cold sneer escaping his lips.
"Good. Very good."
Sienna was such a pathetic, disgusting excuse for a human being, yet for the sake of the big picture, he hadn't completely severed ties with her.
And she had the nerve to block him?
The more Grant thought about it, the angrier he got. Finally, he ordered Leo.
"I want the divorce settlement revised. Have the legal department summon Sienna here to sign it."
"Right away, Mr. Gauthier."
...
In the hospital, Sienna leaned against the headboard. The needle had been reinserted into the back of her hand, clear fluid dripping steadily.
Lucas stood by the window, talking on his phone.
He wore a black trench coat today, the shoulders sharp, the waist tailored and clean.
The fresh air drifted in, carrying the scent of damp earth and grass.
The pale grey light fell across the side of his face, deepening his brow bone, highlighting his straight nose and slightly pursed lips.
"Handle it just as I said."
He hung up and turned to look at her, his tone perfectly steady.
"I have an empty apartment on the west side of town. The lighting is great. You can move in there."
"No need," Sienna rejected purely out of reflex.
She already owed Lucas too much and didn't want to drag him down any further.
"Don't be so quick to say no." Lucas pulled up a chair and sat down, draping his arm casually over the backrest. "Hear me out."
"Hunter's been waiting for you for eight years. You know exactly what that means. He shoved aside countless resources and turned away a massive line of galleries begging to sign with him."
Sienna lowered her eyes, staying silent.
"With your current physical condition, if you keep living in that place, let alone painting, it's a question whether you'll even survive the month."
Lucas nodded, his expression neutral. He simply said, "I've already had the place cleaned. You can head straight there once you're discharged."
Sienna was just about to say thank you when her phone rang in her pocket.
She pulled it out and saw an unknown number.
Upon answering, a young woman's voice came through, sounding highly professional.
"Hello, is this Ms. Sienna Sawyer?"
"This is Victoria Whitmore from the Gauthier Group's legal department. Mr. Gauthier requires you to come to the company today to sign the revised divorce settlement."
Sienna gripped the phone, stunned for a couple of seconds.
Divorce settlement? Hadn't she already signed it?
Why did she need to sign it again?
"I understand." She hung up, her face looking somewhat grim.
Lucas noticed the subtle shift in her expression and asked.
"Is it the Gauthier family?"
Ever since he first saw Sienna by the highway, he had secretly sent people to investigate why she had been there.
