He didn't care at all that she had suffered a miscarriage just yesterday, nor did he seem to remember that he was the one who pushed his pregnant wife down the stairs.
He only cared about his breakfast and his meeting.
Looking at the face she had loved for eight years, Sienna suddenly found him completely unrecognizable.
"So, what do you want?" she replied calmly.
Grant's frown deepened. He was used to her obedience, her tears, and her begging.
Her sudden defiance ignited an inexplicable surge of fury inside him.
"Grant," Lyla's sickly sweet voice broke the standoff. "Forget it, let's just go out to eat. I know a place with great morning pastries. Let's not let this minor issue ruin your schedule."
Grant shot Sienna an icy glare, looking at her like she was an irritating piece of trash.
Before leaving, he made sure to drop one last remark: "You're a miserable excuse for a Mrs. Gauthier."
In that moment, Sienna felt her heart plummet to the bottom of an abyss, the noise of the room instantly muting around her.
A chill seeped from the very core of her soul, rapidly spreading through her limbs and leaving her fingertips trembling.
She had slaved over this household for so many years, only to be dismissed with the word "miserable."
But he was right. Falling in love with a cold-blooded monster like Grant Gauthier was indeed a miserable mistake.
...
When Sienna walked out of the estate, the sky was overcast.
She had planned to take a walk downtown. She had revolved around Grant for so long that she hadn't enjoyed the city in ages.
But for some reason, she waited at the bus stop for over half an hour without seeing a single bus heading into town.
Suddenly, a black sedan drove past her without warning.
It was Grant's car.
Sienna wanted to refuse, but it was an isolated area and nearly impossible to flag down a cab.
She hesitated for a moment before finally getting in.
About twenty minutes into the ride, Sienna noticed the scenery outside didn't look right.
They weren't heading downtown. They were on the highway!
"Zachary, where are we going?"
Zachary didn't look back, his grip tightening on the steering wheel.
"Madam... Miss Sawyer, Mr. Gauthier's orders are... for you to get out up ahead."
He paused before adding,
"He said a proper ex should disappear to the ends of the earth."
