He Didn’t Kidnap Me. Not Exactly novel Chapter 107

Chapter 107

(Daisy’s POV)

For a moment, I just stood there. Not moving. Not speaking. Just standing.

Because I had just made a decision. A very big one. The kind that sounded noble in your head but felt slightly uncomfortable when

you actually sat with it.

I told myself it was the right thing. It was the right thing. Aria was my friend. She had been good to me. She deserved honesty. She deserved help. And she deserved-

“Daisy!”

My name snapped me out of it, and I turned just in time to see Mira rushing toward me with way too much energy for someone who had just survived a math competition.

Our tutor, Sir Douglas wants us,” she said, grabbing my arm and pulling me slightly into a side hug. “But, oh my God, we actually

won.”

She squeezed me again before darting off like she had just remembered she had ten other things to do.

I barely had time to react before more people started coming toward me. “You were amazing out there.” “That last answer? That saved everything.” “You carried that final round.”

Hands shook mine. Smiles. Praise. Energy. And I responded. I smiled. I nodded. I said thank you. But it felt distracted, like my responses were happening a second too late, like my mind was somewhere else and my body was just doing customer service.

Because all I could think about was Aria, and how I had messed up.

I forced myself to move now, slipping away from the crowd and heading toward the back room where the others had gathered.

The moment I stepped in, the atmosphere hit me. Laughter. Voices overlapping. My teammates replaying moments like they were analyzing a football match.

“That final question, did you see their faces?”

“I swear my heart stopped after five seconds.”

“No, because why was Josh just there staring like-

‘Excuse me?” Josh’s voice cut in.

I resisted the urge to roll my eyes.

A couple of them noticed me then and immediately turned. “Daisy!” Someone grabbed my arm. “That last question you answered, do

you even know what you did?”

I smiled, small and polite. “Yeah… I guess.”
