He Didn’t Kidnap Me. Not Exactly novel Chapter 123

Chapter 123

(Daisy’s POV)

“This would be easier if you cooperate, Daisy.”

I just stared at Fritzo.

Because no.

No, this did not make any sense.

Not even small sense.

Not even half sense.

Fritzo stood there looking exactly the same as always. Calm. Annoying. Built like someone whose hobbies included lifting cars manually.

One of DeLuca’s people. DeLuca’s trusted person.

And yet-

I had just been kidnapped by armed men.

Armed men who apparently knew DeLuca.

Armed men who had reacted weirdly when DeLuca’s name flashed across my phone screen.

Armed men who had silenced his call.

My brain genuinely could not arrange the information properly.

I looked from Fritzo to the men around me and then back to him again.

“…What is happening?”

Nobody answered.

That immediately irritated me.

Not enough to overpower the fear, because the fear was still very present. My heart was beating like it was trying to physically escape my

chest. But confusion was now wrestling the fear aggressively.

“Okay, no,” I said quickly, pointing between him and the others. “No because this is actually confusing me. Why are you here?”

Fritzo remained expressionless.

“You need to come with us.”

“I already came with you,” I said. “Against my will, by the way. With guns. Very important detail.”

Still nothing.

I blinked at him.

Then at the men.

Then back at him again.

“Does DeLuca know about this?”

Silence.

My stomach tightened.

“…Did DeLuca send you?”

No answer.

“But he literally called me.”

Still nothing.

I frowned harder now.

“Wait. If DeLuca sent you, why were you people acting strange when he called?” I asked. “And why did nobody answer him?”

One of the men shifted slightly beside me.

Tiny movement.

But I noticed.

Fritzo noticed too.

His gaze flicked toward the man briefly before returning to me.

That tiny exchange somehow made everything worse.

Because now I knew I wasn’t imagining it.

Something about DeLuca calling had changed the atmosphere earlier.

Like it complicated things.

Like it wasn’t supposed to happen.

And suddenly a horrible thought hit me.

“…Oh my God.”

I stared at them.

“You people kidnapped me behind DeLuca’s back?”

Nobody answered, but that silence was loud enough.

Actually loud enough.

My throat went dry.

Because what kind of situation was this?

What kind of insane rich mafia family drama had accidentally swallowed me whole?

I looked at Fritzo again, genuinely desperate for logic now.

“Then why am I here?” I asked. “Why would DeLuca’s people kidnap me without DeLuca knowing?”

“You ask too many questions,” one of the men muttered.

“Well forgive me for being curious during my own kidnapping,” I snapped before I could stop myself.

The man’s expression darkened slightly.

I immediately regretted my courage.

Immediately.

Fritzo sighed quietly.

“You are safe.”

“People with guns always say that,” I muttered.

He ignored that.

“Nothing will happen to you if you cooperate.”

“That is not comforting enough for the circumstances.”

I wrapped my arms around myself now, suddenly aware of how cold the underground garage felt.

Concrete walls.

Dim lighting.

Expensive black vehicles.

Men in suits carrying guns like it was normal.

This was not normal.

And the worst part was that DeLuca suddenly felt different in my head now.

Not because I thought he ordered this.

Oddly enough, I didn’t.

That was the confusing part.

If DeLuca wanted me kidnapped, why would he be calling me repeatedly?

Why would his people avoid answering him?

Why did this feel secretive?

My thoughts spiraled harder.

Maybe DeLuca truly didn’t know.

Maybe someone above him had ordered this.

The idea should not have terrified me as much as it did.

But it did.

Because I had somehow started viewing DeLuca as the most dangerous thing around me.

Cold.

Powerful.

Untouchable.
