He Didn’t Kidnap Me. Not Exactly novel Chapter 150

Chapter 150

“Come with me.”

And he started walking.

Just like that.

Like dragging me away in front of half the school was perfectly normal behavior.

Behind us Archer immediately spoke.

“You can’t just take her away.”

Without turning around DeLuca answered.

“They’re calling players.”

His voice remained calm.

“Don’t keep your team waiting.”

Then he kept walking.

And somehow I kept following.

Mostly because my brain-had temporarily disconnected from my body.

By the time it reconnected, we’d reached a quieter area near one of the stadium access paths.

I immediately yanked my hand free.

“Stop.”

DeLuca stopped.

Then slowly turned around.

“What is all this?”

His expression remained unreadable.

“You shouldn’t be around guys like that.”

I stared.

“Guys like that?”

“Yes.”

You’ve known him for approximately ten seconds.”

“I know enough.”

I folded my arms.

“No. You don’t.”

“Daisy.”

“No.”

I stepped forward.

“I’m not defending him because I like him.”

The words came out quicker than intended.

Something flickered in his eyes.

Gone almost immediately.

“I am saying you literally don’t know him.”

DeLuca exhaled slowly.

“I know guys like that.”

I rolled my eyes.

“Oh, of course.”

His gaze sharpened.

“I don’t want you regretting things later.”

There it was.

The final spark.

The thing that pushed me straight back toward anger.

“Suddenly you care.”

His expression changed.

Barely.

But enough.

“Lalways”

He stopped.

The unfinished sentence vanished before it fully existed.

I heard it anyway.

Or imagined it.

Either option annoyed me.

“Suddenly my choices matter.”

“Daisy.”

“Suddenly my relationships matter.”

“I just don’t want you getting hurt.”

I laughed.

A sharp sound that wasn’t really a laugh at all.

“And now I’m dramatic too?”

His brows pulled together.

“What?”

“You called me dramatic.”

“I didn’t.”

“You implied it.”

“I didn’t.”

“You absolutely did.”

For the first time, he looked genuinely tired.

Not annoyed.

Not angry.

Tired.

And somehow that made everything worse.

Before either of us could continue, another voice cut through the argument.

“Okay!”
