Chapter 167
(Daisy’s POV)
“The part where you confessed your love to me?”
The words echoed through my head long after he said them.
For several seconds, I simply stared at DeLuca.
He stood across from me looking completely unbothered by the fact that he had just detonated a bomb in the middle of the conversation. His posture remained relaxed, his expression calm, and there was even the faintest hint of a smirk lingering at the corner of his mouth.
Meanwhile, I felt like my entire body had caught fire.
Heat flooded my cheeks so quickly that I was convinced my face had turned crimson, while suddenly the air around me felt too warm, too thick, too impossible to breathe.
I opened my mouth.
Nothing came out.
I tried again.
Still nothing.
My brain, which had somehow survived mafia drama, emotional breakdowns, mysterious videos, and public confrontations, had apparently decided that this was where it would finally give up.
Words, Daisy.
Use words.
Any words.
Preferably actual words.
Fantastic.
A letter.
“1. uh…”
Even better. A letter and a sound.
I closed my eyes briefly.
This was embarrassing. And when I looked back at him, that tiny smirk hadn’t disappeared.
Anything, it looked slightly worse.
“Or didn’t you?” He said now and that only made everything significantly worse.
Because unlike most embarrassing situations, I couldn’t even deny this one.
There was evidence. Written evidence. A whole letter folk of evidence-a letter he was currently holding.
My shoulders sagged in defeat.
“I… I did.”
The admission came out in a tense stutter. But to my surprise, DeLuca immediately shook his head.
“Relax, Daisy.”
I blinked.
“What?”
“Relax.”
His voice carried an unusual softness.
