He Didn’t Kidnap Me. Not Exactly novel Chapter 294

Chapter 294

{Daisy’s POV}

You share his blood.

The words hung there in the air between us, and I genuinely didn’t process them right away.

My brain had apparently decided it had more pressing business- namely, the fact that the door had actually opened, which meant we weren’t trapped in a room with a dead man anymore, which felt like the

single greatest achievement of my entire life up to this point.

I pushed through into the hallway beyond it.

It opened into something wider, brighter, clearly leading toward the more populated parts of the base. Relief carried me two, maybe three steps forward before I realized something was wrong.

Aria wasn’t following.

Come on,I said, turning back. Let’s move before someone else finds us here.

Nothing.

I waited, and the waiting stretched longer than it should have, because Aria wasn’t just standing still. She was staring at something at me, specifically with an expression I couldn’t immediately name and

didn’t love the look of.

Let’s go. Come on,I tried again, sharper this time.

She started walking then, slowly, and stopped again the moment she reached me.

You are his blood, she said again.

Not to me, exactly. More like she was saying it to herself, testing the shape of the words out loud for the

first time.

What are you saying?I asked, honestly confused now, wanting an actual answer instead of another

repeated fragment. What are you trying to say?

Chapter 294-

She stepped closer instead of answering, and before I could react properly, she’d taken both my palms into her hands, holding them like they were something delicate. Something sacred.

It creeped me out immediately.

Not just the strangeness of the gesture the fact that this was still Aria, still the same person who’d put two bullets in me, currently holding my hands like they belonged in a museum case.

Then she intertwined our fingers.

What are you doing?I asked, my voice climbing.

Then she lifted her gaze to mine, and that was when I saw it. Her eyes, once perfectly clear, had gone red and glassy, tears already gathered at the edges.

I froze.

The tears spilled over almost immediately, and something about watching them fall completely short- circuited whatever response I might have had ready. Aria looked away first, breaking the contact between our hands to wipe at her face, still visibly shaking with it.

I stood there, disoriented now and running the words through my head over and over.

You share his blood.

There was an explanation sitting quietly in the back of my mind, one I could feel forming even as I actively refused to look directly at it. I wasn’t going there. I’d rejected the idea of Roman Volkov as my father the first time it was presented to me, months ago, and nothing about tonight had earned the right to change

that.

I know you’re confused,Aria said finally, her voice thick. I’ve been confused too. I thought once I finally understood the truth, I’d feel better.A broken little laugh escaped her, one that had nothing funny behind

  1. it.

I was wrong.

Her face crumpled further, fresh tears rising even as she visibly fought to hold them back.

i was wrong, Daisy. I feel terrible. She met my eyes. I feel terrible that you are my sister, Daisy. My
