He Didn’t Kidnap Me. Not Exactly
Chapter 313
sy’s POV)
“Stay away from me!”
I threw everything I had into the struggle, which, given that I was bolted to a chair by both wrists, mostly amounted to hurting myself in increasingly creative ways. My skin dragged raw against the metal with every twist, and I kept going anyway, because the alternative was sitting perfectly still while Aria closed the distance between us, and my body had apparently vetoed that option without consulting me first.
‘Daisy.”
My mother’s voice.
I froze, half out of relief and half out of something considerably worse, because her being awake meant she was about to watch whatever came next. I’d been an idiot once already tonight, trusting Aria after every possible red flag, and I was not about to let my mother pay for round two of my own stupidity.
“Mom, it’s going to be fine,” I said, with absolutely zero evidence to back that up, before whipping my attention back to Aria and aiming a kick at her leg, since apparently my hands were useless but my feet weren’t shackled to anything.
“Wait, Aria said, hands raised. Just hear me out.”
“Never!” I kicked again, missing by a mile. “I’m not giving up without a fight!”
Which, in hindsight, was a deeply funny thing to say from a chair I was physically bolted into, with zero combat training and a wrist that was actively bleeding a little. But pride doesn’t check facts before it opens its mouth, apparently, so I kept going.
“You will pay!” I added, for good measure, still struggling.
“Daisy, Aria said again, closer now.
“Please,” my mother said, thin and scared. “Leave us alone.”
I fought harder, kicking at anything I could reach, refusing to just sit there and let this happen without at least making it inconvenient for her. Aria kept coming anyway, and dread slammed into me full force the second she was close enough to actually touch, because I had nothing left. No hands. No plan.
Nothing.
‘Damn you, Aria!”
I closed my eyes.
My whole body braced for whatever came next, every muscle locked tight, completely, uselessly helpless.
Then I heard it. A buckling sound.
And my wiists had room around them that hadn’t been there a second ago.
I opened my eyes slowly. Aria was already stepping back, and my hands were free, both of them, unshackled, and I shot up out of that chair so fast I nearly toppled it aver

didn’t waste a second thinking about why. I grabbed her, pulling her into a hug and then straight to my side, putting myself between her and Arra without
anconscious decision to do it.
I know how this looks,” Aria started, but I’m just trying to-
I don’t care. The words came out flat, final. “I’m not buying your bullshit anymore, I want you to leave me alone. Leave us alone.”
“Daisy, I-”
“No.” I cut her off completely. “I’m done. I’ve been dumb, Aria. Really dumb. And you’ve taken advantage of that every single time I let you. I saw your name written as Volkov in your purse months ago. Months. And somehow I talked myself past that, and every red flag after it, because I wanted so badly to believe you were just my friend.”
I shook my head.
