He Didn’t Kidnap Me. Not Exactly novel Chapter 34

Chapter 34

Which, knowing Lillian, she probably had.

She leaned slightly toward me, her expression bright, curious, and already halfway into whatever story she expected to hear.

“So,” she said, drawing the word out slightly. “Where did you go?”

I stared.

“What?”

“The disappearing act,” she clarified, waving her hand vaguely. “You vanish for days, come back like nothing happened… you, didn’t

think I’m going to ask questions?”

I stared at her for a second, trying to process how casually she said that.

“You thought I just… went somewhere?” I asked.

She shrugged, completely invested. “Yeah. With a guy, maybe?” she said. “I mean, it would make sense. Secret getaway, dramatic

return, mysterious silence. It fits.”

I let out a short breath.

“Lillian,” I said slowly, “I texted you that I was halfway out a window trying to jump down.”

She paused. Then began nodding slowly.

“Okay, yes,” she admitted. “But that could’ve been dramatic exaggeration. You do that quite frequently.”

Fair. But…

“I was not exaggerating.”

“Mm,” she hummed, not fully convinced.

I rubbed my forehead briefly, then dropped my hand.

“Okay,” I said. “Listen to me carefully.”

Her expression shifted just enough to show she was paying attention.

“Hit me.” She prompted.

“The full story is going to sound crazy,” I said. “Like… actually crazy. And I need you to not interrupt me halfway through and decide I’ve lost my mind.”

She raised a brow. “That’s a lot of pressure.”

“I’m serious, Lilian.”

“Okay,” she said, sitting up a little straighter now. “Go on.”

I took a breath.

And started.

“I didn’t go anywhere,” I said. “I was taken.”

Her expression shifted, but she didn’t speak.

“I was kidnapped,” I continued.

That got her full attention.

“I was walking, and then suddenly I wasn’t. I was somewhere else. A house. Not just any house, like… a mansion- the kind that doesn’t make sense unless you have more money than you should.” I said while imagining it.

And now, I could see Lilian’s expression shifting. Interest, then confusion.

“There were men everywhere,” I added. “Watching, moving, working like it was normal.”

“And then there was him.”

She leaned forward slightly.

“Who?”

I hesitated for a fraction of a second.
