Chapter 54
(Daisy’s POV)
For a second, nothing moved.
Lillian stood near the door like she had forgotten how her body worked, her phone hanging loosely in her hand, her eyes wide and fixed on the man standing in front of her. Adrian didn’t move either. He simply stood there, calm and composed, as though showing up uninvited in someone else’s room was a perfectly reasonable thing to do.
I stayed where I was, a few steps away, trying to process what I was seeing without completely losing my grip on reality.
This was not normal.
None of this was normal.
Then he stepped in.
Just like that.
No hesitation. No request. No acknowledgment that this wasn’t his space to enter.
Lillian instinctively moved back, her free hand lifting slightly like she didn’t know whether to greet him or surrender to him. Her voice came out uneven, somewhere between disbelief and excitement.
“You’re… in my room,” she said, glancing around as if the walls might confirm it for her, “The billionaire is in my room.”
He didn’t respond to her.
He didn’t even look at her.
His gaze shifted briefly around the room, taking in the space with a quiet, assessing calm that made it feel like he was memorizing
everything without effort.
And in that moment, I found myself doing the exact same thing.
Only… not about the room.
About him.
Up close, he looked different.
The beard was gone.
I hadn’t realized how much that alone changed things until now. Without it, he looked younger. Not in a soft way, not in a harmless way, but in a way that made him fit here more than I was comfortable with. Like he could walk into a lecture hall and no one would question it.
His features were sharper too. His jawline more defined than I remembered, his face cleaner, more precise. And without the
structure of a suit hiding everything else, it was easier to notice the rest of him. The way his clothes sat against his frame, the
broadness of his shoulders, the quiet strength in the way he carried himself without trying.
It was… distracting.
And very inconvenient.
1 caught myself staring for a second too long and immediately pulled my gaze away.
