He Didn’t Kidnap Me. Not Exactly novel Chapter 70

Chapter 70

(Daisy’s POV)

I don’t usually walk people places.

That sounds rude but my reason is because I just don’t engage naturally. Especially strangers.

But somehow, I had just walked this complete stranger across campus, explained directions like a tour guide who barely knows the city, and, in a direct weird way, asked her to be my friend.

Progress? Regression? Emotional instability?

We’ll circle back.

I adjusted my bag and kept walking, trying to act normal. Which, for me, usually means “don’t trip over anything” and “don’t accidentally make eye contact with the wrong person.”

My phone buzzed then.

I didn’t even check the name. At this point, my phone buzzing during the day had one personality.

DeLuca.

“Where are you?”

Of course.

I typed my location and sent it, already expecting silence afterward because that was his thing. Ask. Confirm. Disappear like a well-

dressed ghost.

Except-

“Stay there.” His text came and I stopped walking. In the middle of the hallway.

“…no,” I whispered, staring at my phone like it had grown a strand of beard.

Stay there?

Who says that?

People with fundamental problems and control issues. That’s who.

I remained there however, wondering why he had requested this and driving my gaze around in every direction. And after a moment,

I turned to my right and caught sight of him.

His form was unmistakable.

And his steps were unrushed in a different way, like the distance between us was a minor inconvenience he could overcome without any input of effort.

My heart started to race.

Not because of him… Because of everything else.

Heads were already turning, and although it wasn’t intense yet, it was enough to signal the beginning of something I did not sign up for.

No.

Absolutely not.

He got up me, but before he could begin any sentence, I stepped forward, grabbed his sleeve, and pulled.

“You’re coming with me.”

He didn’t argue. He didn’t even hesitate, which was confusing but helpful.

I turned quickly, dragging him down the hallway like I had authority over his own life- which is just my way of ignoring the truth

and trying to enjoy the moment.

I kept pulling and I made two quick turns before slipping into a quieter corner near the stairwell.

Empty… Safe.

I let go of him then and took a step back, breathing out like I had just outrun a warthog.

“You can’t do that,” I said.

He looked at me, calm as ever. “Do what?”

“Walk up to me like that.”

“You told me where you were.”

“That doesn’t mean you should appear like a final boss in a crowded area.”

“I walked.”
