Before his mother could answer, Ford threw Lyla to the floor.
Lyla collapsed, looking up at him with teary eyes. “Ford, please! It’s all fake! I didn’t do any of that…”
Ford ignored her completely and strode to the door.
He yanked the door open, but instead of Sylvia, two NYPD officers stood there.
Given his status, the officers were polite. “Mr. Holloway, Ms. Morgan has filed a report against you and Ms. Gray for aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury. We need you both to come down to the precinct for questioning.”
Lyla scrambled up from the floor, terrified. “She’s crazy! She called the cops on us? But you’re her husband!”
Mrs. Holloway looked back and exchanged a glance with her husband.
Disappointment radiated from Mr. Holloway’s eyes. He grabbed a teacup and hurled it at Ford.
“The CEO of Holloway Corp acting like a thug! You are a disgrace to this family!”
Mrs. Holloway shook her head, eyes red. “For a piece of trash like her, you bullied your own wife? How could you?”
The officer looked at Ford and Lyla. “If you would please come with us.”
Ford walked out expressionlessly.
Lyla didn’t want to go, but she had no choice and trailed behind him.
She tried to catch Ford’s eye, playing the victim, but he didn’t even glance at her.
Ultimately, Ford was the one who had done the deed.
Ford’s lawyer arrived quickly and bailed them both out.
In Ford’s hand, he clutched a copy of Sylvia’s medical report.
Seeing the list of injuries, his heart skipped a beat, and a silent wave of regret washed over him.
Crushing the paper in his hand, Ford looked blankly at Lyla, who was standing nervously beside him.
He reached out and clamped his hand around her jaw.
Lyla winced in pain, tears filling her eyes as she pleaded, “Ford, it’s a misunderstanding! Sylvia framed me!”
“She’s just jealous that you spoil me! I didn’t do anything, you have to believe me…”
Ford laughed darkly. “Spoil you? What makes you think a plece of trash like you is worth spoiling? Or worth my wife’s jealousy?”
Thinking about how Lyla had bragged about playing him like a dog, his eyes turned colder.

Chapter 10
He swung his hand and slapped Lyla so hard she hit the pavement.
He looked at her like she was garbage.
“Take her away.”
“Ms. Gray here loves pranks. Make sure you play all her favorite ‘jokes‘ on her. Have fun.”
The bodyguards immediately grabbed Lyla.
Terror filled Lyla’s face. “No! Ford, please! I’m sorry! I only did it because I love you! Don’t do this to me… please!”
Watching her cry, Ford suddenly remembered Sylvia’s tear–filled eyes looking at him.
Pain stabbed his chest. Without hesitation, he kicked Lyla square in the chest.
“Ah!”
Lyla went pale from the pain, unable to speak.
Ford ignored her and started dialing Sylvia’s number.
