These unreasonable demands sparked strong dissatisfaction among the company’s senior members and core executives, who tactfully raised objections to Felix in several meetings.
Felix, thoroughly annoyed, finally warned her coldly when Hazel proposed making a distant cousin a branch manager, “Hazel, the company is not a playground! We have strict systems and standards for hiring! Just be content with taking care of the child and stop interfering in company matters!”
Hazel was stunned at first, then her eyes reddened and tears welled up as she accused him tearfully, “Felix! You’re yelling at me?! Who am I doing this for? Isn’t it to secure a future for me and our son! Is it because… is it because you’re still thinking about Stella Winter?! Is that why you can’t stand the sight of us?!”
The name “Stella Winter“, like a poison dart, pierced Felix’s already agitated heart.
He slammed his hand on the table and roared, “Shut up! You are not to mention her again! How many times have I told you, company business is not your concern!”
Seeing Felix’s dark expression, Hazel fell silent, but her eyes were filled with resentment and malice.
What was even more embarrassing for Felix were family occasions.
The Vance family held its annual family banquet, inviting many respected elders and important business partners.
Hazel dressed up meticulously, dripping with jewels, but she couldn’t hide her inherent awkwardness and superficiality.
During the dinner, in an attempt to show off her status as “Mrs. Vance“, she spoke loudly, boasting about the jewelry and mansions Felix had bought for her. She even spoke disrespectfully to a highly respected grand–uncle of the Vance family, mocking him for his “old–fashioned ideas“.
The table fell silent instantly. Everyone’s expression was different, but their eyes held undisguised contempt.
Felix’s face was ashen. He wished the ground would open up and swallow him.
Felix’s mother was so angry she left the table on the spot. Before she left, in front of everyone, she threw a line at Felix, “I would rather you stay a bachelor for life than ever acknowledge this classless thing as my daughter–in–law!”
