Chapter 30
Evelyn:]
When you read this letter, I might already be gone from this world, or maybe I’m still barely hanging on. It doesn’t matter anymore.J
This collar, I searched for it for a very, very long time. I finally found it in the corner of an abandoned warehouse at an animal shelter that was about to be lemolished. It’s dirty and old, just like me.]
I know it’s too late to say anything. The words ‘I’m sorry have been said so many times they’ve become meaningless, laughably cheap.]
I’m not asking for your forgiveness. I have no right to ask for your forgiveness.]
I just want to tell you that I know I was wrong. I really know it.]
Every minute, every second, I am filled with regret. Regret for not believing you back then, regret for hurting you the way I did, regret for… losing you.]
Every day I live, every breath I take, feels like torture in the hell you created for me. The sound of the horses‘ hooves at the stables, the despair in your eyes, your cold tears… they visit me every night. This is what I deserve.]
Evelyn, if there really is a next life… never mind. In the next life, I hope you never meet me. Someone like me doesn’t deserve it.]
Live well, and be happy. For Snowball’s sake, too.]
This is my only, and my last, wish.]

The sun was shining, and the world was peaceful.
A pair of warm arins gently wrapped around her waist from behind, carrying a faint medicinal scent and a reassuring strength. It was Daniel. Through sheer letermination in his rehabilitation, he was now able to stand and walk for short periods.
He rested his chin gently on the top of her head, his voice soft and low. “Is everything taken care of?”
‘Mm.” Evelyn replied softly, leaning back slightly into his not–so strong but incredibly steady embrace,
The sunlight elongated their shadows, blending them together, warm and harmonious.
