Liam draped his jacket over Melody’s shoulders, his voice gentle. “Don’t sit on the floor crying, it’s cold. I’ll talk to Sera about the design. She’s not an unreasonable person.”
Melody clutched his sleeve, her eyes red, her voice choked. “Liam, I have no other choice… Sera has so many resources, why won’t she even give me this one chance to survive?”
As she spoke, fresh tears fell, soaking Liam’s cuff.
iam frowned, his dissatisfaction with Seraphina growing. He patted Melody’s back comfortingly. “Go wait for me in the car. Ill find her and clear things up i won’t let you be wronged.”
Melody nodded. As she watched Liam turn and walk towards Seraphina’s studio, an imperceptible glint flickered in her eyes.
3ut when Liam arrived at the studio, he found the door ajar and the inside completely empty.
Design drafts were still spread out on the desk, but the pen lay askew beside them. It was clear she had been gone for a long time.
He took out his phone and dialed Seraphina’s number, only to be met with a robotic female voice: “The number you have dialed is no longer in service. Please heck the number and dial again…”
No longer in service?” Liam’s brow tightened. “Did she go home because she was angry?” He muttered to himself.
He turned and walked briskly towards the parking lot, saying to Melody in the car, “She’s not at the studio. She probably went back to the villa. We’ll find her here.”
The car sped to the villa entrance. Liam pushed the door open and strode inside, his voice filled with suppressed anger. “Seraphina! Come out!”
The living room was silent. Only the light from the crystal chandelier fell on the polished floor, there was no response.
The butler, hearing the noise, came from the end of the hallway and bowed. “Mr. Blackwood, Mrs. Blackwood went out this afternoon and has not returned.”
Hasn’t returned?” Liam froze, a strange unease creeping into his heart. He glanced back at Melody, then gritted his teeth. “Impossible. Where else would she jo? Let’s check her bedroom!”
He quickly went up to the second floor and pushed open the door to Seraphina’s bedroom–the sight before him made him freeze on the spot.
he wardrobe that was once full of clothes was empty. The skincare products and jewelry on the vanity were gone without a trace. Even her favorite oil ainting that had hung on the wall was missing. The entire room was so barren it looked as if no one had ever lived there.
How could this be…” Liam’s voice was tight, his fingertips turning cold. Unwilling to believe the terrible thought in his mind, he harshly questioned the butler, Speak! Where the hell did she go? And the things in her room!”
he butler was startled by him but answered truthfully, “A few days ago, Mrs. Blackwood had a courier pick up several boxes, saying they were being sent broad. Yesterday, while I was cleaning, I saw her put the remaining items into trash bags and had the cleaning service take them away. Other than that, I really lon’t know. Mrs. Blackwood didn’t tell me she was leaving.”
jam abruptly let go, stumbling back a step. He frantically pulled out his phone again to dial Seraphina’s number, but the receiver still gave that cold “no longer n service” message.
Not giving up, he tried sending a message on his app, but a red error notification popped up. He then opened his social media accounts, searching for Seraphina, out every page showed “User does not exist“.
Every possible way to contact her was gone.
Melody stood at the doorway, watching Liam’s devastated state, and said softly, “Liam, has she… has she really left?”
Liam ignored her, just staring at the empty wardrobe, his heart feeling like it was being squeezed by a fist, the pain making it hard for him to breathe.
