In the end, she wasn’t the one Desmond loved.
Celeste gave up completely, as if the last shred of love she had for him had finally evaporated in that instant.
Desmond rushed off to rescue the “trapped” Stella, even getting into a physical fight for her.
The incident quickly went viral online, and it didn’t take long for people to start digging up Desmond and Stella’s past.
Some people called Stella a homewrecker, pointing out that she had abandoned Desmond after his accident and was now shamelessly trying to destroy his elationship with Celeste. They called her a total bitch.
tella’s reputation plummeted. People started doxxing her, and someone even threw paint all over the front of her house.
When Celeste heard all this, she was in the middle of packing her bags.
here were still ten days before she had to report to D.C. She had bought some nursing textbooks and toiletries, planning to ship them ahead of her.
1st as she finished up, Celeste heard the front door open.
esmond was back, with a timid–looking Stella trailing behind him.
he hadn’t seen him in three days. He looked haggard, with a layer of stubble on his chin and dark circles under his eyes.
esmond and Celeste stared at each other for a long moment before he finally broke the silence, his voice cold. “Celeste, were you the one who had Stella
oxxed?”
eleste managed a small smile, swallowing the bitter ache rising in her throat. Even though she had decided to stop loving him, he still had the power to hurt
There’s really no need for you to go after her. There’s nothing going on between us.” Desmond reiterated, his voice heavy with exasperation.
Mr. Hart, if I said I didn’t do it, would you believe me?” Celeste replied slowly, her gaze shifting to Stella’s face. “Or is it possible that Ms. Winslow leaked the
formation herself?”
t her words, Stella’s body trembled, and she burst into tears. “Desmond, please don’t ask anymore. This is all my fault to begin with. I never should have been > selfish and left you. I honestly didn’t know you were hurt so badly. I deserve whatever happens to me!”
look of pity flashed across Desmond’s face. He instinctively started to pull Stella into a comforting hug but stopped abruptly, glancing awkwardly at Celeste.
Celeste, stop going after Stella. She’s just got a childish temperament. She’s no threat to you.”
eleste let out a dry, self deprecating laugh. She was too tired to explain anymore.
esmond seemed to think she had taken his words to heart, because his tone softened. “Her address was leaked, so it’s not safe for her to be alone. I’m letting er stay here for one night. I’ll arrange a new place for her tomorrow.”
eleste’s face went a shade paler. She nodded, walked right past him, and headed straight for the backyard

You don’t like these either?” Desmond asked, following her out with a frown. “I’m pretty sure some of these are new”

Back when he was still in a coma, she would often dress them both in matching clothes.
The day he woke up, they happened to be wearing a matching set of yellow, starfish–patterned loungewear.
“Celeste, these clothes are hideous.” Desmond had said, holding her tightly. He had a look of disgust on his face, but he didn’t make a move to take them off.
“Then let’s take them off.” She had replied, crying with joy as she playfully tugged at his shirt.
“No,” Desmond had said, catching her hand and placing it over his heart. “If Celeste likes them, then we have to wear them! But from now on, let me be the one o pick our matching outfits.”
Desmond had kept his word. He bought thousands of matching sets for them.
It was just a shame that after they returned to the Hart estate, he never wore a single one with her again.
t turned out some promises were just for show.
Celeste took a deep breath and turned to leave.
Suddenly, Desmond grabbed her by the wrist.
Celeste, I was just on edge earlier. I was afraid you were going to do something reckless. After all, we’re getting married next month. Your old reputation wasn’t reat, and I don’t want any more drama.”
