Leo nodded in agreement, a secret joy filling his heart. He could tell that Celeste had no feelings left for Desmond.
Before Desmond’s condition had fully stabilized, Leo arranged for him to be transferred to a medical station in the neighboring country.
Desmond refused to leave, shouting that he needed to find his wife.
But he had looked at every single healthcare worker in the camp and hadn’t seen a sign of Celeste.
Just as he was being carried onto the transport plane, Celeste appeared.
She was examining the wounds of another patient who was also being transferred. She looked up and her eyes met Desmond’s through the plane window.
“Celeste!” Desmond’s eyes flew open, and he immediately struggled to sit up.
His body was wrapped in bandages, his movements stiff and slow. No matter how hard he fought, he couldn’t manage to sit up.
‘Let me down from here! I see my wife!”
‘Celeste, it’s me, Desmond! I’m right here! Come and get me down!” Desmond screamed at the top of his lungs, his eyes red with desperation. “Let me down!”
The people around him paid him no mind, and Celeste, outside the window, wouldn’t even spare him a second glance.
Desmond felt completely powerless, without even the strength to roll off the gurney. He had never felt so hopeless in his life.
‘Celeste!”
As the plane began to taxi down the runway, all he could do was stare at her retreating figure, tears streaming down his face.
ust before the plane took off, Celeste finally looked up at him. Her eyes were calm and emotionless. She looked at him as if he were a complete stranger.
n that moment, Desmond finally understood. This wasn’t a missed connection. Celeste simply never wanted to see him again.
Desmond was sent back. Throughout his hospital stay, he constantly scoured the internet for information about the war–torn country, trying to find anything he ould about Celeste.
de sent his men to find her, determined to bring her back by any means necessary.
He even posted a missing person notice online, offering a reward of one billion dollars to anyone who could bring Celeste back to him.
Celeste, are you still mad at me? I know I was wrong. My life without you is a living hell. The thought of you in a war torn country terrifies me. Please, I’m begging you, come back.”
“Even if you don’t forgive me, please don’t put yourself in danger.”
Desmond started a livestream.
