Chapter 19
“You smooth–talker!” Celeste feigned annoyance, but in her heart, she had already chosen this man.
Celeste returned home with Leo. He transferred every last one of his assets into her name and personally planned a magnificent wedding for her.
The wedding was livestreamed globally. Celeste, in a pure white gown, stood before the crowd with her arm linked through Leo’s.
Her smile was as radiant as a flower, her entire being bathed in sunlight, so dazzling and bright.
“Mr. Leo Shaw, do you take Ms. Celeste Reese to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?”

“I do!” Leo shouted, as if wanting the entire world to hear his vow.
“Ms. Celeste Reese, do you take Mr. Leo Shaw to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?”
Celeste smiled sweetly. “I do!”
When it was time to exchange rings, Leo knelt on one knee and slowly slid the ring onto Celeste’s finger. “Celeste, I love you.”
In that instant, the crowd erupted in cheers, showering the couple with their blessings.
Married life was even sweeter than before. No matter how busy Leo got, he would always come home to be with Celeste. He made time to go for walks with her, to go shopping, to garden with her, and to do anything and everything she wanted to do.
Time flew by, and another year passed in a happy blur.
Celeste got pregnant. Leo immediately handed over control of his company to someone else and stayed by her side day and night, watching over her and their unborn child.
He learned to cook hundreds of different dishes, feeding her a new variety every day to make sure that only her baby bump grew, not the rest of her.
He even hand–sewed tiny clothes and shoes for the baby.

Chapter 19
Leo poured all of his love, all of his heart, into Celeste.
In a dilapidated basement, a nauseating smell permeated the air.
Desmond lay on the bed, emaciated and skeletal, his once–handsome face now completely unrecognizable.
After the Hart family abandoned him, it was Leo who had secretly intervened, keeping him alive with daily
nutrient infusions.
Leo didn’t consider himself a saint. He would never allow the man who had humiliated Celeste to die an easy death.
He had someone livestream his and Celeste’s happy life for Desmond to watch, every single day.
He wanted Desmond to live the rest of his days in pure agony.
He didn’t hide any of this from Celeste, and she, in turn, didn’t interfere. After all, she wasn’t a saint, either.
Desmond couldn’t live, and he couldn’t die. With bloodshot eyes, he could only stare at the television screen, which was playing the video of Celeste and Leo’s wedding on a loop for the ninety–ninth time.
Tears of blood streamed from the corners of his eyes, his breathing growing shallow.
The one–hundredth time he heard Celeste say the words “I do“, he took his last, bitter breath.
If there were a next life, he swore he would hold on tight to Celeste, and never let go of the girl who had given everything to love him.
