He Loved My Sister. I’m Better Off Without Him novel Chapter 26

Chapter 260

For the next few days, Brian came into my room every morning with breakfast he had made himself. Each day, the meal was different. Sticky toffee pudding one day, chicken tikka masala the next. They were all my favorites.

Lilian, try the chicken tikka masala today. I had the kitchen simmer it for three hours, just the way you like it.”

Brian placed the plate on the bedside table and looked at me with such tenderness as if the raging, violent man from before had never existed. But I didn’t even lift my eyes to him. As soon as he left the room, I grabbed the plate and dumped the food straight into the trash.

His footsteps paused outside the door for a moment, but he said nothing. No scolding, no anger. Just silence.

The next morning, he appeared again with a new breakfast. His face showed a calm expression as he gently told me, It’s okay. Today, I made your favorite. It’s sticky toffee pudding.

This routine continued for days. Finally, I couldn’t take it anymore. I stopped eating altogether.

At first, Brian tried to gently insist me to eat. He begged me to eat. But when he realized I wouldn’t give in, pain flashed through his eyes. He called in the family doctor to inject a nutrient injection. I struggled, trying to push it away, but Brian held me down firmly by my shoulders.

His eyes were bloodshot as he gazed on me, while he said desperately, Lilian, I can’t let you hurt yourself, even if it’s to punish me.

I wanted to escape, but I had no idea where we were. Brian had cut off all contact with the outside world, trapping me completely. Outside the window, the sounds of celebration grew louder each day. Ribbons, flowers and decorations filled every corner of the manor.

But to me, it wasn’t a wedding venue. It was a beautiful prison. Brian stood beside me one afternoon, staring out at the garden below with a hopeful smile.

Lilian, we’ll definitely be a happy couple.

His words sent a chill crawling up my spine.

The next morning, several maids entered my room carrying the diamondstudded wedding dress. Despite my resistance, they gently but firmly helped me into it. When Brian walked in and saw me dressed as a bride, his eyes lit up in surprise and

excitement.

Brian reached out to adjust my veil, but I turned my head sharply away. His hand froze midair. Still, he didn’t get angry. Instead, he lowered his voice and whispered, Lilian, today we become husband and wife. From now on, we will never be apart.}

He held my hand as we walked through the garden toward the ceremony. Just as he was about to slip a diamond ring onto my finger, a deafening crash echoed through the manor gates. The sound of metal clashing followed.

Everyone froze in shock. Brian’s face instantly darkened. The iron gates burst open as Mark strode in, dressed in a black suit. His face was pale with exhaustion, while his eyes wee bloodshot, When he saw me, his gaze softened with relief.

He eventually said with a voice trembled with emotion, Lilian, I’m here to take you home.}

The moment I saw him the tears I’d been holding back finally spilled over. My throat tightened and my nose stung painfully.

Markwhy are you here?

Brian immediately stepped in front of me, blocking my path like a wild beast ready to attack.

This is my wedding! Lilian is my wife! Don’t you dare try to take her away!

Mark sneered, taking two deliberate steps forward. His smile was sharp, mocking.

Your wedding? Brian, look at yourself. Herbert Corporation officially declared bankruptcy yesterday. You’ve lost everything.

And Lilian doesn’t love you. You’ve imprisoned her here against her will. That’s a crime.

Brian’s face drained of color. He stared at Mark in disbelief, then turned to me as he looked in panic.

No! Impossible! My company didn’t go bankrupt. Lilian, tell him he’s lying. Tell him you love me!}

I met his desperate gaze, my voice steady and clear as Ltold Brian, I haven’t loved you for a long time. Now, I don’t love you either. And I will never love you in the future.}

The moment the words left my mouth, something inside Brian snapped. He lunged toward me to get me, but chaos then erupted before he could reach me. Adeline suddenly stumbled into the scene, seemingly appearing out of nowhere.

Her face was wrapped in heavy gauze, only one eye exposed. And that single eye burned with hatred. In her hand, she clutched a sharp fruit knife. Her scream was hoarse and chilling.

I finally found you, Lilian, you bitch!

My face is ruined, the Wyatt Family is destroyed, Brian abandoned meI’ve lost everything! Why do you still get to live happily? I’m going to make you pay with your life!

Before anyone could react, she hurled several small smoke bombs to the ground. White smoke exploded, filling the garden.
