The two of them chatted idly.
But it was true—Xavier considered every detail for her.
Helena knew she was somewhat moved by this version of Xavier.
But she also knew that any woman would find it hard not to be moved by such a dedicated pursuit.
Being moved and being in love were two entirely different things.
Let alone true love.
"If you can't finish it, you can put it in the fridge. I'll bring you those Pork and Bamboo Shoot Buns tomorrow morning. Sophia mentioned last time that you liked them," Xavier chuckled, keeping the conversation flowing naturally.
"Okay," Helena didn't refuse.
She didn't refuse because Xavier was just too good to her.
So good that it was incredibly difficult to turn him down.
"Get some rest," Xavier said with a smile.
"I will. Goodnight," Helena replied.
"Goodnight." Xavier didn't cling to the conversation either.
Almost immediately after he hung up, the building's concierge brought up the dessert.
Attached to it was a card, handwritten by Xavier.
Helena understood instantly.
He had been waiting downstairs this whole time.
She stood by the window and looked down. Sure enough, Xavier's car was just pulling away.
He had delivered it personally.
But he hadn't come upstairs.
Because it was too late, and it wouldn't have been appropriate.
Helena didn't say anything. She ate her dessert in silence.
Suddenly, she felt a little lost for words.
The apartment was dead quiet.
But as she looked around, she saw Sebastian's things scattered about.
Even though he hadn't been there long, he had unmistakably taken up space and resources in her home.
She frowned, a wave of irritation washing over her.
Quickly, she set the dessert aside.
She stood up and started packing Sebastian's suitcase.
She put everything back exactly where it belonged.
By the time she finished, two suitcases were sitting by the door.
A courier would pick them up first thing in the morning.
As for the address, she had gotten it from Carter Miles.
