She suddenly remembered their last encounter at the restaurant. Logan had shielded her from the spilling hot soup, burning his own arm in the process, which had thrown Skylar into a fit of jealousy.

He had made endless promises to Skylar right then and there. He must have had the mole removed purely to appease her.

Even though she knew it made sense, a wave of indescribable bitterness still washed over her.

It was as if the very last secret, the final lingering trace of warmth they once shared, had been erased forever.

Seeing her stare so intently at his eye, a surge of revulsion twisted in his chest. He wanted to snap at her, but catching the faint sorrow in her gaze, his heart gave a sudden, painful lurch.

Caught between two violently conflicting emotions, his headache spiked to agonizing levels. His legs gave out, and he slid down the wall, collapsing to the floor as he desperately clutched his temples.

"Logan, what's wrong?"

Stella snapped out of her daze, her voice laced with panic. "Did you forget your medication again? Do you have it on you? Will it still work if you take it now?"

"In my pocket..." he gasped out, his voice incredibly weak.

His lips had turned entirely bloodless from the pain. Shoving aside any hesitation, she immediately reached into his pockets to search for his pills.

After a frantic few seconds, her fingers closed around a prescription bottle in his slacks.

She quickly popped the cap off and shoved the bottle into his hands. "Hold this. I'm going to find you some water!"

Dashing over to a nearby vending machine, she grabbed a bottle of water and sprinted back to his side.

He looked even worse. His eyes were half-closed, and his arms hung limply against the cold floor.

Hearing her approach, he forced his head up. His lips trembled, and he mumbled a faint, barely coherent word: "Star."

Stella froze, wondering for a split second if she had just imagined it.

But there was no time to dwell on it. He was spiraling fast. She unscrewed the cap, cradled the back of his head, and carefully guided the pill and the water into his mouth.
