Initially, they thought that Shannon's statements were entirely ridiculous. No one expected her claims to be true after all. That certainly explained the outrageous and illogical things she said earlier.
They didn't actually believe it was possible to switch two people's fates. They merely thought the Grays were an eccentric family who bought into such superstitions.
Francis sensed that something was amiss, so he quickly took Sheila by the arm and tried to leave. Though his expression was dark, he said, "Sheila, are you having one of your hysterics again? Why are you saying such nonsense?"
He turned to the guests and apologized, saying, "My wife has a bit of hysteria. When she gets emotional, she often ends up going into hysterics. I'll take her home now."
Francis tried to frame Sheila's outburst as merely a bout of hysterics. He wanted to take her out of there right away, but the younger Jensen men quickly blocked his path.
Hector sneered before saying, "Why are you in such a rush to leave, Mr. Gray? It makes you seem guilty."
He was aware of Shannon's abilities, and when he sensed that Sheila wasn't acting normal, he guessed that Shannon had done something. Naturally, he wouldn't let this opportunity slip away from them.
Today, the Jensens were going to join hands with Shannon to expose the Grays' facade!
Shannon had full confidence in the truth talisman she had created. Since the Jensens had stopped Sheila and Francis from leaving, she asked Sheila, "Do you really have hysteria, Mrs. Gray?"
"Certainly not!" Sheila replied without hesitation.
Although she looked like she was on the verge of tears, she couldn't stop herself from being honest. "My husband just doesn't want to let me tell the truth. He has always been like this. He can be such a coward sometimes. Even a woman like me is more forthright than he is."
Francis' expression couldn't get any fouler. Had Sheila decided to start exposing him now that she was done exposing their mistreatment of Shannon? Plus, he couldn't believe that was what she thought of him.
They assumed that even though Shannon had been separated from the Jensens, she did get adopted by a wealthy family, so her life must've been decent still. Who would've thought that she would end up encountering such a vile family instead?
Shannon didn't care about the other people's looks. She calmly eyed Sheila and asked, "Why did you come here today?"
Sheila didn't even hesitate to reply, "To get all the benefits we possibly can, of course! We've raised you all these years. Now that you're back with the Jensen family, shouldn't you be repaying us?
"The Jensens own such a huge corporation anyway. It wouldn't be too much to ask if they gave us half of their assets to thank us for taking you in!"
The guests gasped at that. They couldn't believe it.
Was there no limit to the Gray family's greed? How could they even think of asking for half of the Jensen family's assets?
