"We’re about to enter the city, I’ll head out first. You all stay well here," Shen Tang said, and then she left from the Space.
As soon as she left, the Space fell silent. The Beastman and Little Snake stared at each other, both uncertain of what to say.
It was Fu who spoke up first.
With a loving expression, he patted Little Snake’s head, "Be good, since your mother entrusted you to me, let me take care of you from now on."
"..."
"Don’t be sad over your real father’s death, as the saying goes, out with the old, in with the new."
"..."
"Come, call me Dad."
"Go to hell."
...
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Shen Tang had just exited the Space when she heard the commotion inside, somewhat speechless and amused, she shook her head.
They’ve only just met not long ago, with no grudges or feuds, why do they keep fighting?
Forget it, as long as no one gets killed, it’s fine.
Shen Tang was now fully disguised.
She changed into a nondescript male identity, her face average-looking, hair dark brown, and clothes were the most ordinary style, blending into the crowd without attracting attention.
Once everything was set, she headed towards the city gate of Sky City.
From a distance, it was evident that checks had recently tightened in this area.
The number of guards at the city gate had increased several times compared to before, meticulously stopping and examining everyone entering and exiting.
The key was that everyone entering the city had to pass through a special checkpoint.
There stood a metal frame akin to a security gate, about two people wide, one person high, similar to those at train stations, and a screen hung above.
What was different was the two slender sensing strips embedded on either side of the gate, faintly showing light flowing within.
The entire city gate was tightly secured, everyone had to walk through that gate to enter the city.
Shen Tang frowned, feeling an ominous sense leap in her heart. She remembered there wasn’t such a device last time she was here.
She scrutinized it again, spotting the mark engraved on the equipment — it was the Hand of Creation’s emblem.
Shen Tang felt a jolt inside; from her impression, Sky City had little dealings with the Hand of Creation. Barely a few days away, how did the Hand of Creation’s equipment appear in Sky City?
Clearly, there seemed to be more deeper cooperation between the two sides.
Sky City was a special place, with many coming and going, especially many Beastmen doing business, quite a few lined up at the gate now, passing the security check one by one.
A beastman passed first, a light "beep," followed by the green light on the gate turning on, the guard waved him through.
Then a beastman carrying a child passed too, also the green light, he was through.
Standing in the line, Shen Tang observed subtly, a hint of unease brewing; the facility seemingly served as some kind of identity detector.
She shuffled along the line, edging forward slowly.
With fewer people ahead, her heartbeat quickened.
When it was the turn of the person in front, the beastman barely stepped into the gate when the frame suddenly buzzed "beep beep beep," the alarm sounded, and the red light flashed.
Guards immediately surrounded him, pinning him down, "Don’t move!"
The beastman’s face turned white with fear, "Officer, wha- what’s wrong?"
Another guard directly ripped off a remarkably lifelike human skin mask from his face and sneered, "Still daring to disguise to sneak into the city? This is Divine Hall’s equipment, and such crude disguises are useless against it."
The beastman’s face changed, and attempting to flee, was held tight by the guards.
"Take him away!"
The person was taken away, causing a stir in the queue, but it quickly calmed down, resuming the lineup.
Shen Tang stood behind, her palms sweating profusely.
Her mask was given by the system, supposedly much more advanced than what the beastman used.
