Jimmy’s eyes reddened as well. “Dad…” he called softly, reaching out his small hand to gently touch the one finger not wrapped in bandages.

Looking at them, Flynn’s chest tightened with guilt. All he could do was try to comfort them with his eyes.

We’re heading straight to the spaceport. There’s a dedicated ship waiting to take you to Planet A001. Someone will meet you there. Don’t think about anything else. Getting better is the best thing you can do for your mom, for Jimmy, and for all of us.”
