Chapter 462 A Knock on Tycoon Farm’s Door
The sentence dropped like a bomb in the break room.
Cyndi’s eyes narrowed sharply.
Newman’s eyes went wide as saucers.
The few employees in the corner who hadn’t taken time off all snapped their heads up in urtison.
“Tycoon Farm is hiring? For real?” Newman’s voice cracked.

“For real,” Enola nodded. “They put up the notice today. They’re hiring. Stall workers, warehouse and logistics, support crew–they need all of them. We don’t know the exact pay and benefits yet, but there’s one thing for sure…”
She paused, her eyes glinting.
“Every single internal employee gets to buy the farm’s produce at half price.”
Louis chimed in from beside her. “Why do you think we waited in that line today? Because everyone on Starnet was saying their produce has real mental healing power. My parents‘ mental power hasn’t been very stable lately, and I wanted to grab some for them to try. We came back empty–handed.”
He glanced down at the uniform on the floor, a hint of relief slipping into his tone.
“But if we can land jobs there, we’ll never have to worry about getting our hands on their produce again.”
Enola nodded and turned to Newman.
“Newman, I know things are tight at home, and your little brother and sister are counting on you. But the way Seafarm Group treats people, can you really stick this out for the rest of your life?”
When Roger and the others walked out the front doors of the Seafarm Group store, the sunlight hit them square in the face.
More than a dozen of them stood on the sidewalk, glancing at one another, suddenly feeling a little dazed.
A few minutes ago, in the break room, riding high on adrenaline, ripping off their uniforms and slamming down their badges had felt incredible.
But now, standing here on the open street and watching the crowds flow past, with the rush wearing off, a quiet uneasiness started to creep in.
“So…” Enola said softly. “Are we really doing this?”
Louis shot her a look. “What, getting cold feet?”
“Not cold feet,” Enola bit her lip. “It’s just… what if they don’t want us? We are from Seafarm Group, after all.”
Once she said it out loud, everyone fell silent.
It was true. That farm had just turned them away at the door not long ago.

All because they were Seafarm Group employees.
Now that they had quit, would the farm actually take them?
Roger went quiet for a beat, then finally spoke. “How are we going to know if we don’t try?”
He lifted his head and gazed off into the distance.
“Either way, we’ve already tossed our uniforms. There’s no going back now. Come on, let’s go see.”
He stepped forward.
Enola hesitated for a second, then fell in behind him.
Louis followed too.
The rest of them looked at each other, set their jaws, and followed along.

Mercury Plaza was even more packed than they had imagined.
The buzz from the plaza carried for two blocks away.
When they reached the intersection, all they could see was a sea of people.
A winding line stretched out from the plaza entrance, curved around one corner, then another, and finally disappeared down a side
street.
It was the same as when they had come that morning, if not more crowded.
“Oh man…” Louis muttered. “How long is this line going to take?”
Roger said nothing, just kept his eyes on the line.
The people waiting had a mix of anticipation and excitement on their faces, craning their necks to peer up ahead.
Some carried shopping bags, others pushed small carts, and some held kids in their arms.
୮
The line crawled forward, but nobody was complaining. Instead, they were chatting with each other, swapping notes about which fruit from the farm tasted best and how to cook the different vegetables.
Inside the plaza, equally long lines snaked up to each of the dozens of stalls.
Workers in matching Tycoon Farm uniforms hustled behind the counters, their feet barely touching the ground.
Counting orders, bagging produce, taking payments, and greeting customers, their hands flying, smiles never leaving their faces.
Enola watched the workers buzz around, her eyes lighting up a little.
“They look… so happy,” she said softly.
Louis glanced at her but didn’t say anything.

Roger took a deep breath. “Come on. Let’s go ask.”
They walked around the line and headed toward the plaza entrance.
Before they could even get close, someone noticed them.
It was a woman in her 50s, carrying a big bag of fresh strawberries she had just bought, on her way out.

When Poppy Guthrie spotted Roger and the rest of the group, she did a double–take, then her face lit up with recognition. “Hey, aren’t you the ones from earlier?” Poppy pointed at them. “Yeah, you guys, the ones who got turned away!”
Enola’s cheeks flushed.
The others all dropped their heads too, looking a little embarrassed.
Poppy was friendly enough, though, leaning in to talk to them in a low voice. “What are you doing back here? I already told you, the rules the Tycoon Boss set aren’t going to change easily. If they say they’re not selling to Seafarm Group folks, they’re not selling to you. Go back home. Don’t waste your time hanging around here.”
Enola lifted her chin and gave a small smile. “Mrs. Guthrie, we’re not here to buy anything.”
“Then what are you here for?”
“We…” Enola paused, then worked up her courage. “We came to apply for jobs.”
Poppy’s jaw dropped.
“Apply for jobs?”
“That’s right.” Enola nodded. “We just quit Seafarm Group, and we wanted to come see if they’re still hiring here.”
The moment she said it, a few people who had just finished their shopping crowded around them.
