Chapter 493 Eating
“Every head at the table swiveled toward her.
Olivia blinked, lifted oneland, and pressed it gently to the sirle of her head.
“I mean it. There’s been this tight/throbbing pressure sitting behind my eyes for a while now. wasn’t paying attention before, but right now it feels… lighter. Like something shifted.”
Clara turned her attention inward and actually checked:
She’d been ignoring it out of habit, but now that she genuinely listened, the dull, grinding ache that had nested permanently inside her skull had genuinely eased, not vanished, not gone, but softened and drawn back like a tide retreating from the shore.
The sensation was subtle and almost tender, like a thin, grey fog gently dispersed by a warm breath of wind.
“I feel it too,” she said quietly. “It’s lighter.”
Felix set his fork down, pressed his eyes closed for one long, careful moment, then opened them again.
“Same here.” Rocket gave a single, quiet nod.
Sharpie sat with his eyes half-closed, taking stock of himself in that unhurried, precise way of his. “It does feel better.” Olivia’s voice leapt upward with sudden, radiant wonder. “So it’s true! Everything people say about Tycoon Farm’s produce healing mental power is actually true! We had one meal of mac and cheese and we’re already feeling it. That’s genuinely extraordinary.”
Something shifted in Olivia’s expression then, something private and raw rising up through all the excitement, and her eyes went glassy and luminous.
“Ma’am, you should know this,” she said, her voice dropping to something fragile and earnest. “My mental power has been crumbling for years. The squad’s doctor told me if it kept declining at that rate, I’d be forced into retirement within a few years. I didn’t know what I’d do after that. I thought I’d just… accepted/it. That this was just what my life was going to look like.”
Her voice caught on something invisible. “I never thought… never imagined…”
Elizabeth reached over and laid a warm, steady hand on her shoulder.
“No more tears. This is good news. Eat well at the farm, work hard, and there’s a real chance your mental power comes back on its own terms.”
r
Olivia nodded fiercely and dragged the back of her hand across her eyes.
“Ma’am, I’m yours completely. Whatever you ask, I’ll do it.”
Felix added from his seat, quiet but solid, “Same here.”
“Same,” Rocket echoed.
Sharpie said nothing at all. He simply nodded, once, with the gravity of a man making an oath.
Elizabeth surveyed the lot of them pledging their undying allegiance and looked thoroughly, warmly satisfied.
“Alright, alright, that’s enough. Eat your mac and cheese. The crabs aren’t even on the table yet.”
The words had barely cleared her lips before Ella came striding back out of the kitchen, this time bearing a truly enormous tray

stacked with three massive serving bowls.
The crab inside had been cut into generous, hefty chunks, every piece gleaming a deep, lacquered crimson, slicked breathing out plumes of fragrant steam.
One butter-basted, one steamed one Cajun-spiced.

The mingled fragrance swept through the entire cabin in one glorious, instantaneous wave.
“Crabs are up!” Ella planted the three bowls across the table with practiced ease. “Butter-basted, steamed, and Cajun spicy, one bowl of each. There’s more in the pot, so don’t hold back.”
Olivia’s jaw dropped into a perfect, involuntary O.
“Those crabs look absolutely irresistible!”
Every single chunk was easily the size of a closed fist, the shells fired to a blazing, polished scarlet and dripping with sauce
The steamed crab meat gleamed snow-white beneath its casing, perfumed with roasted garlic and butter, the noodles beneath it fat and glistening.
The Cajun pieces were swathed in shimmering red chili oil, and their scent alone was bold enough to make the eyes water and the mouth flood.
Elizabeth plucked up a steamed piece, dragged it through the sharp ginger dipping sauce, and bit in with her eyes drifting blissfully closed.
“Ella, you are absolutely extraordinary.”
She laughed and waved her off with cheerful, genuine modesty./
“Credit goes to the crabs. Crackshell Crab meat is tender by nature. And every seasoning on that table is straight from the farm, the butter, the ginger, the garlic, all of it ours. The flavor never had a chance to be anything but perfect.”
Olivia seized a Cajun-spiced chunk, sank her teeth in, and drew a long, hissing breath of pure, overwhelmed heat, but her grip on that crab never wavered for even a second.
“It’s so good… it’s so incredibly good… it’s spicy and fragrant… and the meat is still so tender…”
r
Felix had claimed a piece of the butter-basted crab, its sauce a deep, glorious mahogany, the meat soaked through with every drop of that rich butter, and when he bit down the whole thing burst across his palate in one long, rolling wave of flavor.
