Chapter 106 Gossip Spreads

“Wait, Rosalic, what did you just say? The Schofields invited Commander Hewitt to a party?” A girl with blonde hair–Naomi Lambert–hurried over, looking curious. “Does that mean Elizabeth actually married into the Hewitts?”
Rosalie Randall rolled her eyes. “The Kingdom Genetic Registry already announced it. General Hewitt and Elizabeth are officially married. How could that be fake?”
A girl with a high ponytail and a slightly sharp expression–Vivian Simpson–snorted. “So what if the paperwork’s done? If General Hewitt himself doesn’t agree, doesn’t show up, doesn’t acknowledge it, then it’s basically meaningless. Have you seen him appear once since they registered? Has he ever said anything? I doubt it!”
“Yeah, Vivian’s right,” said a guy with glasses, pushing them up as he spoke. “When two big families join like this, there should’ve been a big event or a public appearance. But there’s been nothing. It’s probably not happening.”
He leaned in, lowering his voice, sounding mysterious. “I’m telling you, my cousin’s coworker’s neighbor works as a driver for the Hewitts. Apparently, Mrs. Hewitt hasn’t even set foot into the Hewitt Castle. They probably don’t even plan to accept her.”
Vivian’s smirk got even sharper. “With Elizabeth’s reputation? Before she even got married, she’d already cheated. Who could accept that? Especially someone like General Hewitt. And didn’t she try to steal her own sister’s fiancé? When that failed, she used shady tricks. Tsk tsk, that’s so embarrassing.”
Naomi couldn’t help but cut in. “But I heard Zachary was originally Elizabeth’s fiancé, right?”
Vivian immediately shot back, “So what? In relationships, the one who isn’t loved is the outsider. Zachary loved Hannah. Elizabeth just wouldn’t let go, and even drugged him. If that’s not being the third wheel, what is? She deserved to get exiled to Garbage Planet.”
“Exactly!” a few others chimed in, all looking down on Elizabeth.
Vivian added with a hint of jealousy, “But honestly, she’s still lucky. She got exiled and still got pardoned. Out of everyone in the kingdom, why did she end up being General Hewitt’s perfect genetic match? Talk about insane luck.”
Rosalie was probably the least harsh out of all of them.
Hearing them get nastier and nastier, she frowned and said, “But my mom said the Hewitts… seem to be preparing engagement gifts for their new daughter–in–law.”
“What? Seriously?!” Everyone was shocked.
“So the Schofields are hosting this party, and the are Hewitts showing up … does that mean both families are actually going to sit down and talk about the marriage?” Nico Ziegler said, eyes wide.
Just as the gossip was heating up, two figures walked into the classroom.
They were holding hands, looking close–Hannah and her best friend, Tessa Rhode.

Tessa looked curious. “What are you guys talking about? What marriage?”
When they saw Hannah, everyone looked a little awkward.

Vivian reacted the fastest. She smiled and said, “Hannah, we were just talking about your family’s party tomorrow! We heard Commander Hewitt and his wife will be there. Is that true?”
My family is hosting a party?
Trevor and Zaylee are coming?
Why didn’t I know about this?!
For a split second, Hannah’s perfectly practiced gentle smile froze.
Ever since the marriage announcement between Elizabeth and Cristian came out, no matter where she went, people kept talking about Elizabeth.
The looks people used to give her–envy over her engagement to Zachary–had changed. Now they were mixed with all kinds of emotions, especially… pity!
It made her feel extremely uncomfortable!
Since when did she need anyone’s pity?
Pity her because her fiancé wasn’t as good as Elizabeth’s husband?
ng everyone’s curious stares, Hannah quickly fixed her expression and spoke in a relaxed tone, “Yeah,
re coming over as guests. After all, our families are related by marriage now, so it’s normal to have
ts.”
But a few clueless classmates only got more curious.
Nico couldn’t help asking, “Hannah, so is your sister living at the Schofield Castle now, or has she moved
nto the Hewitts‘? Are they going to hold a wedding later? And what does General Hewitt actually think about this… uh, ‘sudden‘ wife?”
