Chapter 213 Trading Treasure for Seeds

Elizabeth had lost count of how many times she’d browsed the major official seed sales platforms on Starnet.

The sheer range of seeds displayed there was enough to make her dizzy with longing. Improved vegetable varieties, specialty grains, rare herbs, ornamental flowersjust looking at the pictures was enough to make a dozen planting layouts and ingredient pairings spring into her mind.

But those damned qualification requirements, strict to the point of absurdity, stood in front of her like an invisible wall of steel and locked her out completely. The kingdom kept an extremely tight hold on natural crop seeds, especially improved varieties with superior traits.

Buying them required all kinds of documentation, farm certification, land contamination reports, proof of planting scale, and a whole stack of other complicated paperwork. A blackmarket farm like hers, carved out illegally on a garbage planet and existing with no official record at all, didn’t even qualify to apply.

Elizabeth let out a long sigh. She could grow Divine Essence Root, but now she couldn’t even get her hands on a tiny pack of leafy green seeds.

She took another bite of her strawberry and muttered under her breath in frustration, suddenly feeling like even the apple and strawberry in her hands weren’t as fragrant anymore.

Just then, Fiona walked over carrying several freshly organized supply lists. When she saw the deep frown on Elizabeth’s face, she stopped. Ms. Schofield, still worrying about the seed problem?Fiona set the lists on a nearby toolbox and asked softly.

Elizabeth turned her head, face full of grievance. Obviously. I look at the pictures on Starnet and practically start drooling, but I still can’t buy any of it. This farm can’t survive forever on the same old few things, right? I want greens. I want cucumbers. I want tomatoes. I want watermelons

She started counting them off on her fingers, sounding more and more pitiful with every item.

Fiona thought for a moment. Compared to Elizabeth, she understood the empire’s lower levels and gray- market survival rules much better.

After a long pause, she said hesitantly, Ms. Schofield, if the official channels won’t work, maybe we could tryunofficial ones?

Unofficial? The black market?Elizabeth perked up immediately.

The black market is too risky. If you get caught, it’s a criminal charge,Fiona explained. I mean the Free Market section on Starnet.”

The Free Market?Elizabeth remembered that it was where she’d posted her presale notices. Isn’t that just a private trading platform? You can sell seeds there too?

As far as she knew, the kingdom’s laws on seed trading were extremely strict. Largescale private seed sales were illegal.

Fiona shook her head. Directly listing seeds for sale, especially natural crop seeds, is easy to get flagged. The risk is high. But there’s a kind of default rule on that platform, or maybe more like a grayarea

She searched her memory as she spoke. Back when I lived on Centria Planet, I saw it happen a lot. I even did it myself. Barter.”

Barter?Elizabeth blinked.

Right. No stellar coin transaction, just exchanging goods what both sides want. For example, I might trade a flower cutting I propagated myself for a packet of herb seeds someone harvested at home. Or trade extra fabric for a few seed potatoes.

Fiona explained it carefully. Under platform rules, that kind of exchange is defined pretty vaguely. It’s usually treated as sharing and swapping between hobbyists, not a commercial transaction, so enforcement is looser. As long as it’s not a largescale resale for obvious profit, people usually get left alone. I once traded for a smalllemon sapling that way.

The moment Elizabeth heard that, her eyes lit up. You can do that? If it’s barter, it doesn’t count as a transaction? She jumped to her feet so fast she nearly flung her apple core away. How did I not think of this?

Her mood instantly turned around. The clouds on her face vanished, replaced by eager excitement.

What did she have?

She had oneofakind strawberries, potatoes, and sweet potatoes, products no one else in the kingdom could offer, miraculous in effect, incredible in taste, and impossible to keep in stock.

To people who genuinely loved gardening, or who had ways of getting seeds but weren’t satisfied with market produce, that kind of thing would be irresistible.

Fiona, you’re a genius.Elizabeth gave her a tight hug, then immediately opened her device and began working at lightning speed.

She logged into the Free Market platform with the Interstellar Tycoon account she already knew how to

use.

Instead of choosing the normal product listing section, she went into the Community area and opened the Bounty board.

After only a second of thought, her fingers flew as she quickly drafted a post with plenty of personality and more than enough temptation.
