I woke in cramped darkness. Arms and wrists searing from where they were bound. I felt like I

was burning from the inside out. Fucking wolfsbane. No wonder I felt so weak. The sound of

the vehicle moving over the pavement was the only sign we were still traveling. How long had

I been out? I tried through mind link to reach out to Mazzie, but received only static, the

telltale sign that there was too much distance between us. My eyesight was impaired with the shit they injected me with and I squinted to make sense of my surroundings. I felt the caress of fabric shift over my skin. They had put a hood over my head. I twisted to my back in the

tight space. Limbs heavy, a cold sweat covering my skin, all my senses hampered by the wolfsbane and whatever they had secured over my head.

The position bit into my arms where they were secured behind me, but I gritted through the

pain and fire in my veins as I pulled my knees up to my chest and kicked my feet out making

contact with the lid of the trunk. Swearing of men started from inside the car as it swerved

and I landed another blow. Tires screeched. I steadied my breath as my mind swam, the

wolfbane surged through my system along with the adrenaline. I got in one more kick, before

the car came to an abrupt stop. The smell of burning rubber hit my nose. Had I been at full

strength, I would have busted out of the trunk on the first blow. They must have given me a

high dose, because I was no better than a human in this situation right now. Worse, even with

the raging inferno coursing through my veins. The sound of the trunk opening, and the feel of

two sets of rough hands gripping my arms as they dragged me out. Immediately fists began

hitting me straight in the gut in tandem. I coughed and wheezed, doubling over, but their

arms held me up. The onslaught stopped suddenly, and the sound of shoes on pavement

moving towards me caught my attention. They came to a halt directly in front of me.

“Seems our bait burned through his medicine faster than expected. Good, the harder you fight,

the weaker you are, the less fight she will have in her when she comes running,”

“Why don’t you fight me like a real alpha you piece of shit!” I growled out.
