Chapter 11
Sterling Enterprises Conference Room
“I disagree! Once we clarify, the company’s interests will be damaged and stock prices will definitely fall. Robert Sterling
sat at the head of the table, heavily pounding it.
Other shareholders chimed in:
“I also disagree. It’s just entertainment news-it’ll die down eventually.”
“Right, if that Sophia feels wronged, we can just give her some money.”
“Alexander, don’t be impulsive. Being talked about for a bit won’t kill anyone. People will forget about this in time-
here’s always some new scandal.”
Alexander casually played with his pen, indifferent to their words.
When they’d finished talking, he made the final decision. “I’m definitely holding this press conference. I’ll handle any consequences-you don’t need to worry. This meeting is to inform you, not to discuss.”
With that, he left the entire conference room behind.
After a few steps, Robert Sterling’s stern voice came from behind. “Alexander.”
He stopped but didn’t turn around.
Robert softened his tone. “Don’t make hasty decisions. We can give Sophia any amount of money. Go ask her opinion-
she might agree.”
Hearing this, Alexander looked down with a mocking smile. “She won’t take it.”
She wouldn’t take anything, not even him.
Alexander suppressed the heart-wrenching pain and forced himself to walk out of the conference room.
The next day, he held the press conference, bringing Victoria along.
He wanted her to publicly apologize.
This press conference was broadcast live-he hoped Sophia would see it.
At the conference, he spoke sincerely to the camera. “Everything online is false rumors. Sophia Bennett and I have been together since college, while Victoria Whitmore was only my arranged marriage partner. Sophia knew nothing about this arrangement. I… I deceived her, and I’ll spend my lifetime making amends.”
His eyes were earnest, as if Sophia was definitely watching from the other side.

After Alexander finished, he looked at the haggard Victoria beside him.
Seeing her head down with no intention of speaking, he covered the microphone and said coldly. “Think about whether
you want the Whitmore family’s reputation or your own dignity.”
Victoria stiffened, remembering what Alexander had said before coming on stage.
He’d said if she didn’t clarify, the Whitmore family would have no place in Manhattan.
Victoria knew Alexander could do it, and when she finally spoke-confessing her actions and apologizing to Sophia with countless cameras focused on her-she felt stripped naked and exposed to the public, wanting to crawl into a hole from
the humiliation.
After seeing this press conference online, public opinion immediately shifted.
Comments apologized to Sophia while cursing Victoria and Alexander, even flooding Sterling Enterprises’ official accounts
with criticism.
Sterling’s stock price plummeted and reputation suffered.
At this moment, Alexander was kneeling in Robert’s study.
After the incident, Robert flew into a rage and summoned Alexander home to kneel in the study.
