A month later, final pitch.

I’d practically lived at the office. Every number, every clause, picked apart, polished. If I was going to win, I’d win so hard they’d never recover.

Ethan tapped the table. “Begin.”

The Mitchell proposal was better than last time. Still amateur. To cut costs, they’d fudged materials and cut corners on environmental standards. I pointed out three fatal flaws. Each one legally actionable.

Jason’s face went whiter. He looked at me, voice shaking. “Nina… do you have to? This is the Mitchells’ last chance. If we lose this, the company collapses.”

I capped my pen.

Looked at my once-untouchable brother.

“Mr. Mitchell. Business is war. You taught me that. And if this proposal got approved, who’d take the fall when something went wrong? Your precious Rose?”
