Strictly speaking, tonight was Samantha and Leonardo's wedding night.
Who would have thought that instead of coming home early, Samantha was out stirring up trouble, leaving Leonardo alone in an empty apartment?
And to think he had even left work early, planning to at least have dinner with her.
He glanced at the time, then at the untouched meal on the table. Finally, he set down his cutlery and went to make himself a cup of coffee before heading to his study to get some work done.
On his way, he casually checked the registration form Samantha had left behind, making sure she hadn't filled it out incorrectly.
Then, he sent her another message. "I'll have Gary pick you up later."
Samantha replied, "No need. I don't even know when I'll be done here."
Leonardo frowned but still typed out a response. "Be safe and come home soon."
She replied, "Got it."
Putting his phone away, he sighed. His gaze landed on the marriage certificate he had carefully stored in his desk drawer, and he finally felt a bit more at ease.
They were legally married now. Where could she possibly run off to?
...
As dinnertime approached, the students in the activity room left one by one. Chione was the last to leave, locking the door behind her.
Samantha's registration form was in her hand.
She glanced down at it, a cold smirk forming on her lips. "If I could make it disappear once, I can do it again. Who does she think she is? How dare a shameless homewrecker like her join the competition! She can dream on!"
When she passed by a trash can on the first floor, Chione didn't hesitate. She crumpled the form into a ball and tossed it inside before walking away without a second thought.
Even if Samantha's name didn't show up on the final list, so what?
Chione could always claim she had forgotten or that it was an accident. There were plenty of excuses to fall back on.
Besides, who would really care? Samantha was the only one with a missing form out of all the students. People might gossip for a bit, but they wouldn't actually do anything about it. Most people didn't concern themselves with things that didn't directly affect them.
"I can censor your face. People will only see what you did."
"You!"
Chione was so furious she nearly choked. She didn't actually care about her face being shown. She cared about people knowing the truth.
She couldn't just brush it off as a simple mistake if the video was leaked. Everyone would know she had done it on purpose. That would be devastating for her.
Samantha delivered her final warning. "There's still an hour and 30 minutes until the registration deadline. You'd better figure out a way to submit my application before then. Otherwise, this video will go up on the school forum for everyone to see."
Chione tried to negotiate. "If I do it, you have to delete the video."
Samantha smiled. "Sorry. That's not happening. Submitting applications for students is your responsibility, remember?"
"So you're just going to hold this over me forever?"
"Let's not put it that way. Think of it more as… insurance."
