Samantha spun around with a pale face.
However, when she saw who stood behind her, she sighed in relief, pressing a hand to her chest. "You nearly gave me a heart attack!"
She shot Leonardo a glare. "Can't you walk like a human?"
"I did." Leonardo blinked, looking thoroughly innocent. "You just didn't hear me."
"Oh, really?"
"Maybe you were too busy trash-talking to notice me?"
Samantha's heart skipped a beat.
Leonardo had zero interest in sparing her pride. Unfortunately, for her, pride was exactly what she had too much of.
"I wasn't trash-talking."
"You didn't? But it sounded so to me."
"Lies!"
Leonardo smiled. "Haunted house, huh?"
Bullseye. He'd caught the exact part she didn't want him to hear.
Samantha jumped, clapping a hand over his mouth in a panic. "Don't say it out loud!"
She was already barely tolerated in the Garrett family—if anyone else heard what she'd said, she'd be torn to shreds.
"Unbelievable! I'm out there, dragging myself through the hallway like I'm in a battlefield, and you two are here sneaking around like some rom-com couple?
"Do I mean nothing to you?" Wesley ranted at Leonardo to vent his frustration, but the second his eyes landed on Samantha's face, he stopped.
"Holy shit! So that's the deal. You're not celibate — you're just picky! Makes sense now. No wonder you're rushing into marriage. If I landed someone that gorgeous, I'd be racing to the altar too."
Grandpa… Old bastard? Samantha's eyes widened in awe. What bravery.
She was eager for the gossip, so she couldn't help but ask, "What did he do?"
Wesley looked like he was ready to explode. "He actually called my dad to complain about me!"
"Wow, that's brutal."
He fumed. "Look at what you've dragged me into!"
Leonardo responded coolly, "Once the latest season's products drop, I'll send a batch to your company. I'll make sure your artists have the first access."
Evergreen Corporation's launches were usually sold out in under three seconds online, and people lined up the night before just to buy in person.
The hotter the item, the more desperate people had to have it.
